I have a copy of the 5th edition BMW RepRom, which has served fine, until now. I have nearly completely dismantled my '08 GSA, which has huhghlightedsoem differnces between teh 2008 on MU models and those coverd by the 5th edition of the BMW RepRom.

I have had a trawl around the interweb and have only found this version, or earlier. Did BMW produce a 6th edition to cover the '08 on models, or am I on a hiding to nothing?

The main differences in the engine is the timing gear and balance shaft. Earlier model had a bearing in the timing cover for the auxiliary shaft, which was retained by a bolt, later moesl, like mine have a threaded nut which retains the gear wheel. WIth the nut removed I can move that gear wheel by hand forward by 15 mm or so, then it comes up against a hard stop somewhere. I want to be sure that this just the woodruff key locking it up and not something else that I need to undo first. I don't want to put a puller on it until I know it should be free.

So, I'm looking for a later copy of the RepRom , or soeone to advise that yes it should just pull off once the nut has been rmoved...

Hi

Google for RSD032014 - it's readily available (there are dozens of download locations). It covers all bike models up to K52 (2013 R 1200 RT)

Thanks Stevelup, helps to know the name fo what I am looking for !

I have tried a few links now, none of which my AV software likes. Any known safe sources out there? I know I can turn my AV off, but how do I know which ones are safe and which are dodgy ?

Hi

If you download the text file in the first post here:-

http://garageforum.org/Thread-BMW-Motorrad-Repair-And-Service-Data-03-2014-Multilanguage

It contains about six sets of links for each of the 8 files.

I downloaded two files each from the first four in the list (to spread it out a bit).

All eight files were fine, and when extracted, the ISO mounted fine on Windows and there was no malware in it.

Just tried several of the links but as is often the case, the download sites all want to try and install bogus 'anti-virus' software / other crapware.

if anyone is prepared to send me a copy of the CD or the ISO via dropbox etc, I'm prepared to host it securely for others to download.

cheers
Matt

Hi

There is absolutely nothing wrong with any of those links. You just need to click the right thing.

For example, on the first set, click Slow Download, then close the pop-up, then click Free Download, wait for the timer to count down, enter the Captcha, then click 'Slow Download' and the file will start downloading.

A very similar process applies to all the other ones.

None of the sites are even vaguely dodgy.

You're right but those download sites can be a pain in the arse. On a couple of occasions, I got an 'uncloseable' pop up that informed me that my Mac had a virus and locked up the browser until I'd clicked the download button for their anti-virus software. As I wasn't about to download their crap I had to force close the browser to get out of it.

Phew.
Many, many hours later I have 8 archive (.rar) files, all 1Gb each, and each contains one disk image (.iso) .
All ll disk images have the same name.

I have never created disk from multiple images, nor do I have a clue about how to. Is it a case of copyg each image to one DVD? If the files total 7.6GB, what type of DVD do I need?

Hi

Something has gone wrong. Just unrar the first file, and you'll end up with a single large ISO file. The unrar tool will read all 8 files automatically. If this didn't happen, then your unrar tool is seriously weird and I'd recommend grabbing WinRAR:-

http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm

You can then 'mount' the ISO file using this tool...

http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=38780

... at which point you'll have a new drive letter appear on your computer with the RSD folder in it.

Just browse to that folder and double-click RSD.exe - there's no need to actually install any of it to your computer - it runs fine directly from the mounted image.
