Dear forum

Am getting my kit prepped for the year, and need a little advice. My 2 piece suit has 3 layers:-

> Outer shell
> Waterproof/breathable mid layer
> Thermal layer

No issue with the waterproof layer (Nikwax tech wash, then tx direct, dry on a clothes horse).

However, outer shell & thermal layer....was thinking of:-
Thermal layer - am thinking of a 30 degree wash with non bio, tumble dry on a low heat with a tennis ball to re-loft
Outer shell - remove body armour, 30 degree wash with Nikwax tech wash, then tx direct, dry on a clothes horse in the centrally heated house

Anyone with Rev'it kit out there that has undertaken this process with success - your advice would be appreciated.

Thanks :thumb2

Reproof the outer shell of the jacket with a waterproofing spray as well

Hello

Spoke to the guy on the Revit stand at the NEC show. I had the problem with my outer shell not being waterproof. He suggested because the straucture was 'breaking down (some thing to do with surface tension...) I wash the coat in the washing machine, minus armour and then reproof it with a good spray. Hope that helps. Will do mine when the weather picks up

Regards

Nigel

Wash my Rev-It gear in washing machine with tech wash and let dry naturally, don't forget the 3 layer system the outer jacket isn't waterproof it the inner mebrane that keeps you dry, I wash mine to 'freshen' it up and clean it after a years riding.

Ok, so what I've done...

Process complete. Here's what I've done:-

> Thermal layer - 30 degree wash with non bio; tumble dry on low heat with a tennis ball to re-loft
> Waterproof layer & Outer jacket & trousers - firstly, 30 degree wash with Nikwax Tech Wash; then a 2nd wash with Nikwax TX Direct. Gentle spin and then onto a clothes horse to dry au naturelle

There's been no shrinkage of items, and the waterproof layer & outer jacket now feel 'slippery', which must be the proofing element.

Not sure if this is going to be a complete success , but the process so far seems to have turned out ok.
