The engine isnt really being loaded on tickover so not really producing much heat.
But, as mentioned before, I dont think a guard would present any problems used in the UK.
If you do attach them with cable ties or wire, you could easily drop them off if you run into problems if we had a scorcher of a day (yeah...right), or you were running down to somewhere like Spain.
It wouldn't have any effect even in Marocco.
Spain or UK or any other country.
Especially with partly watercooled engine .
ITS A NON ISSUE.
1. Tell us what effects exactly would you expect in Spain ?
2. What is the best operating temperature of combustion engine ?
3. What temperature is water cooling most efficient at ?
4. What airflow degradation do you expect from radiator guard ?
5. What would be an effect on engine if a you unknowingly ride with a massive leaf covering half of one radiator or god forbid riding trough mud ?
6. Why BMW installed one fan if radiator guards with barely any covering area, would make engine temp so critical as of engine failure?
Why you people insisting on such a trivial thing like radiator guards ?

Rad guards or no rad guards, you are supposed to keep an eye on the temperature guage whilst you are riding. Thats why why have these things called temperature guages !!
Same on cars, lorries and anything else that needs cooling.
So all this talk about restricting airflow and possible warranty invalidation is irrelevant.

These are ones I`ve made but any protection like this might stop issues like outlined on this thread.

Maybe it's just me but the vents on those radiator grills look wrong, wouldn't you have the open side of the vents in such a way as to promote air flow through the radiator?
Swapping parts from left to right and vice versa would achieve this assuming both parts are identical
I actually tried that but the open side seemed to collect and hold `stuff` (leaves, dirt, twigs, stones etc) whereas when I changed the opening to the other side it seemed better - less of a `trap` if you see what I mean

It looks like one setting will "promote" catching more stuff from under the wheel than other.
I've had an email flurry with Radguard in Australia (!).
I like their under the radar, plain Jane discreet look. But as someone has pointed out, they require your Rad shrouds for trimming and fitting. I picked their brains about this and they tell me they have a limited number of complete products (so no need to send your shrouds) for about £160 plus shipping.
Too much for me! I'll contact Mikes Grilles and sound him out.

I totally agree - mine are far too much 'in ya face' yet thankfully other kindly tossers do like that - as I said, thankfully we all have our own opinions.
As a suggestion TT do a fantastic set, black and not so much in ya face. Perhaps these might be a better choice?

The Race attacks were shredded in less than 3000kms. Awesome grip, but too much coin for me. Now run the Avon Cobra's, get 13K Kms out of them

Here's my tuppence worth, Yamaha V Max lovely bike both new and old versions although a tad too much coin for my pocket.
Radiator guards - only enough air needs to pass through it that can pass through the radiator. 100% of the air that hits the front of a radiator does not pass through it IMHO the guards shown on this thread will probably make little or no difference to the volume of air that passes through the radiator matrix.
My truck has a fine mesh factory fitted bug/stone screen in front of the lntercooler which is in front of the radiator so come on guys get real smell the coffee.

Rad guard has finished my shrouds and I will have them back on Monday. I will take some pics and post them up for you for those considering going with them.
I decided on Rad Guard because of the high flow design, elevated distance from the mesh to radiator itself and locality preference for after sales support.
I have a similar product on my other bike as you've seen and I never had issues and its 100% water cooled.
