Watch out for dealers passing off '08 bikes as '09 bikes

Not a defence of the unknown dealer but, IIRC, BMW charge the dealer the current price when the bike is first registered. So even if the dealer has had the bike in stock for a year it will be either classed as "Consigned" or "Adopted" stock and would be paid for by the dealer at the current price and not at the price current when delivered to the dealer.

Does that mean then that when a dealer orders a bike they do not pay MWB for it and that they only pay BWM when they register it

That's about it. They do pay some form of stocking charge while they have it.

there is a few different things on adv 08 to adv 09,obvious indicators gear box is ssssssssssoooooooooooooo smooth,handlebars, engine output,petrol tank ,front ends different,petrol pump set up is also changed (dont know if its anygood yet) and the red ones are definately the best ones keep it safe people

I had a 2009 GSA ordered for Jan, in October I was offered a good discount to take my bike in Oct 2008 instead. Before I accepted the offer, I noticed the LEDs on another GSA, the Salesman offered me that bike if I wanted it instead at no extra price(same spec except for LEDs). I didn't take it as I dont think they suit the GSA. I guess I was lucky, well done to MH in Kearys, Cork.

Just got mine. All quite simple, you can identify the bike's factory birthday by looking at the specification on the dealers IT system. No reason why he will not show you (unless he is hiding something). When I checked mine it was 31 days old making it 40 days old on collection.
