Just a little wander over to the 1200 w/c section, I won't be going back in a hurry.:augie:eek: Glad I decided to buy the bike I started the bm love affair with, an 1100gs. Just bought a cracking good bike off a very nice gent. 16 years old, 22,000 miles and looks like new.:thumb2

I've been looking at upgrading my 1150GSA recently. I looked at the WC and loved it, looked at the Triumph Explorer and loved it too.

The day after I looked at the Explorer the abs servo on my 1150 failed. So I did a servoectomy and what a difference it's made. I think I'll keep my 1150 as it feels so much better put together than the new ones.....

How timely, I've got the itch to change and money in my pocket - I keep looking around without getting excited.

Then I go home and look at the well sorted 1100gs sat in my garage and think do I really need anymore?

The look of these bikes as always enthralled me. Almost every review in the 90's had the word 'quirky' given to them.Yet every reviewer in the mags loved the way they handled and rode. They were way above most other bikes at the time yet the jap bike diehards wouldn't give them a chance but it didn't stop them having a sly glance.Once these bikes were seen giving the sportbikes a kicking on the B roads and potholes of the A roads things began to change. Many a biker being heard to say "what the bloody ell is that thing? it goes well don't it"Had my first one in 1994/95 from Doug Hackings in Bolton,an ex demo and kept til I bought a new one from Dougie in 1998,he let me have it for just over cost because I had done more advertising for him than any BMW leaflets could have done.Yep the same "I wouldn't have a BMW if you gave me one" bikers were buying them and loving em.I have had the latest and greatest from BMW and payed out some hard earned money.Don't get me wrong, the last one was a 1200 tc adventure and it was a bloody good bike but I can still enjoy BMW ownership with the 1100gs and have me campervan too.And I will say this these bikes are becoming a cult bike and future classics.I can sit down after a ride, have a fag and spend time staring at the 'quirky thing' and think "bloody hell it can get a move on that thing"

Exactly - I started with a new 11 GS in 1996 & that has summed it up for me

Before I got mine I'd wanted ones for some time. Really pleased. Having said that, last weekend did see me inspecting a rather fetching KTM. If I bought another bike it would obviously have to be an as-well-as arrangement. Tricky, given they'd be doing the same job.
We'll be going to Italy on the GS this summer. Let's see how it all goes. No use rushing these things. ;-)
