Water out the exhaust joint!

Like i said originally "bit of a dumb question" really, and yes i do no wot appens with a combustion engine, but never mind, teach me to ask a question, but i spose every forum has cocky priks, who know absolutly everything there is to know about everything:blast

but cheers to the ones that did answer me question:thumb

I answered your question;)

:P

Spose u did really:thumb lol, seriously tho, the reason i asked is because i just got me centre stand powder coated, like new again:D, and obviously when you start the bike up you get condensation pissing out of the joint, now i knew really this is normal obviously water is a product of combustion, but what i was wondering is, is it also that that contributes to the paint coming off the centre stand in the first place, being as it pisses out all over that, now being as part of my job is as a lpg engineer, i regurly check the flues etc. off all types of appliences and i know that when the water vapour builds up in the flue pipe it is actually corrosive and over time will rot the flue pipe thru, so i was just wonderin wether this was the same, that was me thinkin anyway!

Yes sir!
All cats have platinum inside ,That for the exhoust emissions are transformed in to wather! To save the inviroment :)
Platinum it is the only metal that is extracted from carbon himself and in contact to a different carbon has a chemical irritation that transforms it in to wather when is in contact with the air !
Also the Diamont is a carbon himself and not a rock !:)

Every litre of petrol burns to about one litre of water plus CO2 so of course the catalyst makes water, but the engine makes about 9 times more.

I think somebody borrowed his engine for a while to make one of these - probably the best use of a 1200 engine I've seen -- Ditch pump

Cos I couldn't believe someone was actually asking, that he was worried about a few dribbles of harmless water, dripping out at the lowest point of his exhaust on start-up

Especially when the ambient temperature is pretty low

Do these people actually know what happens in an internal combustion engine:blast

You're absolutely right to wonder - because the OP said the water dribbled out at the "exhaust valve joint". And that ain't the tail pipe in anyone's book. At first i thought he meant at the exhaust header joint to the head, but then decided it must be elsewhere along the pipe. He's got a friggin' joint leak on the stupid flapper valve that should be cut out and binned :)
Nip it up or re-joint it.

Stick with it chum. In between all the leg pulling shit on here there is a fantastic amount of helpful information for everything under the sun. Not just this 1200 hexagon crap. I didn't know I had such a thing till recently :)

Mine, too

2004 1200 GS. When started, I get a few drips of water under the middle of the bike, by the centre stand. I start it in the garage and then get my gear on, so it idles for 2-3 minutes and in that time, there are probably half a dozen drips. Might be running down the outside of the silencer and just dripping off there as the lowest point. Never bothered about it or investigated. Not got any better or worse in 2 years.

Its normal condensation from a cold engine.
I personally prefer to start it and ride as the engine will warm up faster.

Bit of a dumb question this, but ever since ive ad me twin cam gsa it has blowed at the exhaust valve joint from cold, condensation comes blowing out, anybody elses do this??? and am i best to just forget about it or is it meant to be a complete gas tite joint, it dont blow bad or anythin like that, just more annoyin:blast

Mine does it and my previous 2005 1200Gs did it too, I tightened the joint on the 2005 model but can't be arsed to do it on my 2010GS - it won't cause any harm and once warmed up it appears to tighten anyway.

P.S. it's not a dumb question at all - there are a lot of dumb answers though!
