I've noticed some times some (just a bit) moisture coming out of the water pump's drainage hole after riding (Dry riding weather). According to the Haynes manual this might indicate that one of the water pump's seal have failed, or is this normal? Have any one had the same experience? If it's the seals I reckon the BMW dealer will fix it for free as the bike's not two years old yet. I'm planning to change the oil and oil filter myself as soon as I've got some free time. But must'nt the oil be drained if the dealer have to fix the water pump? If I'm right its no point in me changing the oil now. Am I right in that they have to drain the oil?

Sounds like the seals are on their way out.

I had the same & over time it got progressively worse so I opted to replace it prior to it failing. Unfortunately my bike was just out warranty & therefore it cost me $525 to get a replacement as I was in Santiago, Chile at the time.

Another F800GS owner I know is on his third pump in 2 years.

Just for info - the new pumps component parts are made of plastic whilst my original was made of metal. The new pump failed almost immediately due to the fragility of the plastic components so the old metal parts wer taken out of the original.

Hope the above helps.

NO, I don't think so. Most water pumps can be replaced without changing the oil. This is the cooling system, not lubrication.

Just an update. The water pump had failed. Changed for free by BMW dealer because of warranty. :)
