I've seen a few pics (posted for other reasons) where some of you guys seem to have a rubber (presumably) sealing strip stuck on your tanks to stop the ingress of water onto the top of the airbox and diagnostic plug.

I've only had my GS a couple of weeks and after washing it on Sunday noticed that the water was running straight in down the gap between the tank and the seat. Also the fuel cap rim seems to hold about 3 litres of water too which cant be good!

What's the solution?

It's a standard "from new" fitment on the 1150. It's just an adhesive-backed foam strip.

And if your fuel cap rim is retaining water, it probably means the drain hole is blocked.

don't wash it, that's what rain is for. :thumb

Believe me I did think of that before anything else...sadly the rain just runs right in there too

Only asking as that's where my Starcom is going to have to go (1150 GSA)

Hmmm mine doesn't have it....presume the stealers will be able to furnish me with one in exchange for a weeks wages?

I'll have a little poke around the fuel cap then, as it were, wasn't aware there was a drain hole. Cheers :thumb2

Your water drain hole is blocked. You may be able to clear it from the filler end if the blockage is minor - I recently had to unblock mine by giving it a quick blast of pressurised air from the drain tube end.

be careful if you put an airline on the end of the drain tubes one drains the neck of the filler the other is the tank breather and trust me if you pressure the tank breather you could burst the chamber in the tank that prevents the fuel running down the drain and onto the road which it will do when the tank is full
I know I've done it !! then its a tank off and strip job a couple of hours work
