Waterproof bike jacket??????????

Klim all day long, I have done hours in torrential rain and low temp environments , I have the Adventure jacket I purchased on a close out sale, It is heavy but that is the price of ballistic material, the Armour floating chassis gives you the confidence that if you hit the deck, your gonna have half a chance. Three layer Gortex is the only way forward, nothing worse than getting off the bike after a wet ride ,putting up your tent , and the following morning your jacket is still wet and you got to ride in it.

I bought rukka, spent a lot of money and it fell apart. Broken zip and the materials split and fraying after 14 days riding. No warranty coverage.

Will never buy their crap again

Did you buy second hand?

Why not return it? The warranty on Rukka kit is the best around. Either get it swapped or refunded.

I did return them ( it was the trousers that fell apart). Feedback was that it was my fault and I'd have to pay for them repair.

I have 2 pairs of Rukka Aramas size 58 and size 56. The 56 get more use because of the size. Same bikes and the 58's are falling apart, 56's are okay.

I can recommend Rukka kit, have had no problems with leaks myself, but it does got hot in the summer (sometimes I have to ride with the jacket partially open in hot weather). I can also recommend Andrew Jenkins as posted above.

Had my Rukka Navigator suit for nearly a year now, covered 8k in all weathers, been bone dry and warm. They do have a 6 year warranty, but to be fair it doesn't cover wear and tear, so if you do massive mileage in the gear, I guess it will wear out.

If you want black, heavy, hot in the summer, high quality, very expensive, then go for Rukka. If you want lightweight, other colours apart from black, excellent venting for summer, use your own layers in the winter, high quality, slightly cheaper, then go for Klim. There will be lots of people voting for their favourite but I would say try both and see what your priorities are, what one person likes, others will hate. Personally I have a Klim Overland suit, its their cheaper suit (around £700+ but now discontinued) and apart from the boxy off road styling, it is an awesome bit of kit. Lifetime warranty, very comfy, totally waterproof, excellent venting and not black !

Agree 100% as I have had both Rukka Armas and Klim Badlands. I've still got the Klim and sold the Rukka as it was too heavy and poorly vented for summer Euro touring.

I currently use Rukka, However I am considering replacing my jacket with one from Dane. I had a good look at the full range at the NEC last year, the quality and construction seemed to be excellent, and the reviews are very favourable.

I'm with Giles, but mine is the Latitude, and with my Keis heated jacket underneath I'm still cosy at 5c, and it has great vents for summer.

The Keis jacket doubles up as a reasonably smart walking/pub jacket when I'm off the bike.

As previously mentioned it's basically a tough very well made waterproof breathable laminated shell. I bought the one with the hi-viz panels but they do get mucky quick and take some cleaning. next time I'll try get all black and wear a hi-viz waistcoat.

Nothing wrong with Rukka though.

Klim all day long .. :D

Tough as nails. I have the Traverse jacket. Bonded goretex, good venting, armour, but it's a shell. That means you choose what you want to wear underneath, from a t shirt on the hottest days to layers or a heated jacket on the coldest. (I use a keiss heated jacket underneath in the winter).

Its a proper 4 season bit of clothing and i wear it all year round. :thumb2

That's like sometthing you would do the gardening in :blast

I prefer the full Dakar look - http://www.adventure-spec.com/default/limited-edition-klim-badlands-jacket-spec-stealth-black.html

(coming to a N West 200 paddock soon) :D

Not tried Rukka but have ridden in prolonged torrential rain in Klim and been as dry as a bone underneath and very comfy. Also in heat open up the vents for cooling great kit would not hesitate to buy again.

+1, had Klim for 2 years now ride all year round and not been wet at all, strangely the lower outer pocket contents seem to get wet though!

+1 for Klim. Far more vents than Rukka & slightly cheaper. Warranty the same (ish). Pockets on Klim arent waterproof as you get a Goretex wallet to put a wallet in!! Is my only gripe.
Just returned from a very wet Iceland and glad I had my Klim gear.

I had a Rukka suit and loved it, however as soon as the warmer weather came round i couldn't wear it. Hardly any venting and waaay to hot for warm weather use.. Got rid of it and bought the Klim Badlands Pro suit. Had that for nearly 3 years now and wouldn't change it for anything else. Fantastic venting for summer riding, fully waterproof and layer up for the winter...

Klim all day every day for me..

Dry as a bone!

Vents were closed for this photo:D

I've worn Rukka but as others have said they are great for keeping the rain out but they are hot due to lack of venting, another alternative is the BMW TourShell, similar in design to the Klim Traverse, except it's supplied with armour and a thermal liner, there are no sleeve vents however the front and rear vents are a good size and accessible when wearing the jacket.

There is a new model coming soon so dealers are selling off current stock at discounted prices.

I picked up a black one from CW-Motorcycles for £275 after making them on offer on eBay. :thumby:
