12 year old Daytona still waterproof, got the adventage the can be refurbished at a fraction of the cost of new ones when they fail.

"A fraction of the cost"

When was the last time you had a pair refurbished, over twelve years ago?

Things have changed I'm afraid ... I buy new now and use the old ones for sunny days or dog walking :D

Edit ... Still the best boot by far though :thumb

I have a four year old pair of TCX infinity, very comfy and haven't leaked yet!

Keep the boots and buy a pair of Sealskinz waterproof socks for about £35 - that'll save you a wodge of cash;)

I know it's not really the place but if you are a 9/10 I'm just about to pop a very lightly used pair of Altberg all weather Hogs on eBay. More waterproof than wellies, warm as toast and you can hike in them.

Another vote for Daytona :thumb2 Had my 10 y.o. boots factory re-lined (with Gore-Tex) and re-soled three years ago, still can't wear the buggers out

Well after being out on the bike last night in the nice inclement weather and riding through a foot and a half of water my alpinestars have decided they no longer want to keep the water out. So I am after a new set of daisy roots.

Can anyone recommend a good set of general purpose boots that wont let the water in. I do a bit of touring so do not need any moto x stuff.

TA!

Did the boot leak or did the water get funnelled up your trouser leg and into the boot? This is what happened to me last weekend.

I also advocate Daytona boots - I use the short Rainbow or Journey XCR as I find it possible to get them on easily. I used to wear the longer Roadstar but after an accident, I can't get my foot past the narrow bit near the ankle of the boot, even on the wide fitting version of one of their touring boots.

The Rainbow can be worn all day in the office if you want, but I tend to swap them for a pair of daps. Obviously, being a short boot, they are more susceptible to water entering from the top if you get caught in the bow wave of another vehicle. Perhaps I should put some puttees around the base of my Rukka trousers...

Forma Adventure boots, nearly half the price of Sidi.

I recently bought a pair of these, first outing was Bakermans day on Sailsbury Plain.... A days off-roading and my feet stayed dry!

For every day use I use Altbergs, they must be 12+ years old have been cleaned and polished at least 3 times if not 4, they get used every day which currently includes a flooded lane and they've always been great.

The other great thing about Altbeg boots is they are a guaranteed to get you off should you be stopped by a bike cop :D

The Forma boots...

Yes they let water into boots not up the leg. Ta
