Anyone managed to find the Holy Grail and actually find a waterproof case for the iPhone that

- lets you use the touchscreen through it
- lets you attach a power cord
- can be easily mounted on the bike

Seems to be a gap in the market for a product that actually works!!

Ive been wondering about this also, have you tried deal extreme as they have loads of mounts/cases?

I've bought some Ram stuff from buybits.com and can recommend them. I got a waterproof Ram box to hold my Windows Mobile phone and it works fine. I've been looking at getting an HTC HD Mini which has a capacitive screen like the iphone so I took the box into an O2 store and tried the phone in it and the touch screen works well though the clear membrane.

Not sure which size box you'll need but buybits are good at returns, I bought the wrong charger and they credited me without question once I'd sent it back, just lost the postage which is fine seeing it was my fault.

linky to largest sized box - http://www.buybits.com/product/sku_3620.aspx

got one of these http://www.otterbox.com/pda-cases/2600-series/ for my Desire which is about the same size. Touch screen works fine. I added a mount onto the back of it so it could attach onto the bike. I also stuck a cable from the GPS power socket on the bike into it with a 5v regulator to take care of the charging. It works absolutely fine and it is totally waterproof as I sealed all the holes I made with hot glue. Total cost with the regulator and all that was just over £40. I will be changing it though as its a bit big and bulky for my liking. I am just waiting on HTC telling me where the GPS antenna is to see if I can machine up an alloy box that will be just larger than the phone so will be nice and neat.

Hi Mark, I have just got an otterbox and intend to do the same, u dont have any pics u could post do you and which mount did you use?

I don't but I can sort one out. I made the mount myself though so its probably of little use to you. Its basically a square plate with a bit of round bar attatched to it.

The Bike Console type products, for example by Tigra technology, work well; all dry so far.
HOWEVER. I'm still to find a charging cable that fits inside the case, as it is designed for an exact "apple shaped" connector only.
any ideas?

I'm currently in the throws of piecing together my on bike (57 plate GSA 1200) music solution - here's what I'm doing:-

> RAM Aqua Box to hold my i pod (early model) in place (comes with 3 pieces of pre cut foam of different depths, same lengths & widths). It has a flush fitting clear cover to allow access to i pod control dial - i've tested it and it works v well. Closes v firmly, and has a base/lid loop to allow for a small padlock to add extra security

> RAM U bolt (to fit onto the screen bar) with 2" arm + diamond base to secure onto the back of the aqua box

> I've got the a/com lead to plug into the headphone socket of the i pod already, and that works a treat thru the a/com hub

> I've purchased a powerlet i pod charge cable (PPC-012-DB) from Burnsmoto.com (in California, USA), which will enable me to have the i pod charging on the go, as it will connect directly onto the battery terminals. It is also in line fused. It's worth noting, that Burnsmoto.com also carry 2 other charge cables for newer models of i pod & i phone

Now, the leads...both leads when connected to the i pod in the aqua box need to be fed behind the pre cut foam and thru the aperture @ the rear (when purchased, the aperture is not open, but with a tool or two, the plastic cover that fills it needs to be punched out)

This is not all fitted to the bike yet, but I've been meticulously jigsawing/planning this and will have it fitted by the end of Oct.

Cheers :thumb2

You may need the Autocom ground loop isolating audio lead if both your Autocom and iPod are bike powered. Try it first but if you get electrical noise then you'll need one.
