Hi,

after a new pair of boots. Must be waterproof motorcross or atv style boots.

I dont ride off road much at all, but own a tired pair of alpinstars and have liked them a lot, apart fron the leaks.

Sidi Couriers look perfect, but there seem to be a variety of differing views as to whether they are waterproof or not.

For the record, I dont want infinity GTX's or whatever the Heine Gerike version is. I've looked at them and dont like the softness of the exterior. I often rest my shins on the pegs briefly (no comments please) when spuddling in traffic and boots without a hard plastic front will last about five minutes.

Any recomendations?

Thanks, Olly.

AFAIK you can't get waterproof pukka MX boots, just lookalikees.

Better off getting the boots you want and a pair of seal skins.

FWIW I have a pair of A* tech 10 and the BMW enduro boots and my feet have stayed dry in major downpours, despite them not being waterproof.

GS Boots

Hi Pikey, I've got an almost new pair of BMW GS Boots I am about to put on ebay. they are size 8. If your interetsed I'll stick some pics on.

As Adam says, waterproof socks are the only real answer. I have worn nothing but MX boots for years now and whilst some are better than others they all leak eventually.
Currently on Tech 8s and Vectors and, if anything, the Tech 8s are a wee bit better.

I've just bought myself a 2nd hand pair of Sidi SRS Flexforce for racing but have used them on the road. The last time in some atrocious weather and they actually stayed water tight, neither of the Astars would have. It'll be intersting to see how they shape up.

Mine are the same. They stand up very well to the worst Scottish monsoon.

They are a bit clunky for everyday wear; so much so that I've now gone to wearing TCX Infinity boots for most of the time.

However, if you have the cash, the hot new tip has got to be the forthcoming Sidi Adventure Gore. £285 though......:augie

Give it a couple of months after release and someone is bound to be selling em cheap on here after buying them, not realising they are a tad stiffer than the average road boot and not getting on with them. ;)

"Waterproof" and "MX style boots" don't go together. You get one or the other, only the degree of water ingress differs.

I have a pair of Sidi trials boots, similar to the M/X but a bit more flex. After copius amounts of dubbin they're almost waterproof, though leaking a bit after total immersion............yes,I know the point of trials is to keep the feet up.:)
I recently borrowed a pair of Gaerne ones, similar but with a full Gore-Tex liner. Not only completely waterproof even after a full day but very comfortable and flexible. I've seen them in Colin Appleyards,Keighley for around £190.
You could try www.bvm-moto.co.uk - I ordered some bits for the Beta at 3pm on Friday and they were here at 11am on Sat.:clap
7am on a rainy Sunday and it's off to work for me now.......boo. Got the Beta on the back of the Jeep though.........hooray. Should be finished by late A.M. then off to play.............
