..That are actually WATERPROOF.

I am flying over to the bike show in the NEC in a couple of weeks with some guys from work.:JB

My main priority purchase is a pair of trousers that are not just saying that they are 100% waterproof but that they are 100% waterproof.

I have had 3 pairs of trousers over the past couple of years and all have let me down.

I was looking at the Carole Nash bike show website to see what the dealers have and at the moment my preference is for the Dainese Galvestone Gore-tex (about £200) or the Suzuka Gore tex (about £220). I have not found anyone seling them yet but am hoping some dealer has them at the show and that is the Halvarssons Cobra or Zen (about £170).

So can anyone vouch for the waterproof-ness of any of the above or indeed recommend something from their experience around a similar price range.

many thanks

Rob

w.trousers

Yep the galvestones being goretex are ace ,dont leak ,warm when bleedin cold too.
Also good without the lining in for when its a taj warmer but still wet, also comfortable armour .When a bit dirty just wash em down and enjoy.
Worn mine through winters and extreme wet weather with no problems after being put through washing machine several times still dry as a bone .
Find a dainese stall at the show an get yourself a pair!!!!:clap:clap:bounce1:thumb2

Are you sure you want to buy something that expensive, that needs a guarentee, from a motorcycle show, that far away from home. :augie

Scats Country Stores

I have had a Frank Thomas and other suits but the best stuff I have is a pair of waterproof overtrousers from Scats cost about £9 and roll up really small.

Best value for money and I don't care if I lose them.

I have the Dianese and these are OK in a shower but not in heavy rain.

Fair play Bose, Thanks for that info.

Never had a problem with HG Cruise gear.

HG are not listed as exhibitors at the show. I know I can go to Newry in N. Ireland and buy them there but hoping for some good value for money at the show.

Had to do it with my Teknic jacket and in fairness to them when I had to send it back the only thing I had to worry about was the postage costs. And it still beats the rip off prices here because of our fine government and there excessive taxes.

I'd just like to say that I have no connection with the shop other than as a satisfied customer and also having known Billy from back when I started motorcycling and bought my first road bike off Rod Taylor

I too will be shopping for some new waterproof trousers as the waist seems to have failed on mine
I hope you are not the same size as me as I want to get a bargain.

Halvarssons

I spoke to their UK Sales Manager this evening and he tells me that they will have a stand at the show with all of their 2010 range on display (although this is a show not sell stand - a bit like the bike manufacturers).

I use a company called Skins in Brackley, Northants where I bought one of their Graffiti jackets. They only stock Halvarssons AFAIK.

Yeah, I sent Jofama an email having seen them listed as exhibitors but told me what you have said that will only be displaying and not selling.

Thanks, Rob

My Hein Gericke trousers are the only waterproof trousers I have ever had, even with a hole in the outer layer at the knee.....and you know the use abuse mine have taken. I don't even need to replace them after the deer strike.

For Halvarssons/Jofama/Lindstrans kit DO NOT buy it without trying it on first or buy mail order as the sizes are strange.
It also varies between ranges as well ie the Cobra and Zen pants even in the same sizes are a totally different fit.
They seem very well made but I spent over an hour in Custom Lids trying on numerous pairs and non fitted (i've got a 32 to 34" waist and a 32" inside leg measurent so my sizes are not unusual).
In the end I boughtt a pair of RUKKA unit pants for £300, a perfect fit, comfortable, waterproof and very warm with the liners in.

Dainese pants are exactly that"pants" and useless inbad weather jacket is useless also IMHO . Can recomend Rukka kit as the only clothing that has got me through over a decade of winters ..... Exspensive but you get what you pay for :comfort

I'm thinking of getting rukka too - unit pants and marco jacket (well, the new version - athos i think)

Has anyone had any experience of this or the marco jacket????

Glad to hear the unit pants are warm and waterproof and they are guaranteed for 5 years, that's gotta be worth the price difference between them and HG seeing as the difference between them and the HG cruise pants is only about 60 quid.....

BUGGER
I am going to nec just to see some of their kit with a view to buying :blast
Do Skins in brackley have a large stock to try going near there at the w/e

Yeah you cant even try on for size at the NEC, its touchy feely looky only.....

Last time I was in Skins they had quite a bit of stuff but they are running out. Apparently Halvarssons schedule their manufacturing at the beginning of the year and when it's gone it's gone. If there's something you're particularly interested in give Tony at Skins a call and ask him.

btw, I agree with the earlier comment about sizes. I have a jacket which fits my chest size but it's tight on the neck. I do have a large neck (17.5) but that's not a problem I've encountered with any other kit I've bought.
