I did a very basic test and set up a three way conversation with bikermates last night. It worked a treat with us sitting in our homes in various locations in the UK. I'm trying it out on the road over the next few days. It has the potential to resolve those very annoying connections issues, eliminate the 'hub' rider going out of range and linking bigger groups. It also shows you where your bikermates are, which I would have scoffed at up until last year........don't ask.

Key features of the Wave Intercom app include:
  • Unlimited Range & Grouping: Uses cellular data for communication, enabling, for example, a 1-mile (1.6 km) "Wave Zone" range or, with friend-based functionality, connections beyond this range.
  • Cross-Brand Compatibility: Allows riders to use non-Sena Bluetooth headsets.
  • Live Location Sharing: View friends' real-time locations on a map.
  • Intelligent Mesh Conversion: Automatically switches to mesh intercom when cellular service is unavailable and back again when it returns.
  • Voice Control: Manage the headset and app features with natural voice commands.

Update - two of us used this for about 30 minutes in rural Kent on a ride out last week. It was easy to connect but sound quality was poor and intermitent. My bikermate has a bluetooth/Mesh comms Cardo thingy and as far as we could tell, the app didn't automatically transfer over to Mesh with a rubbish data signal. We pulled over and connected our headsets in the end. I might try it again as we were in the sticks.

I was looking at the Sena 60s yesterday in Infinity store and was told that Cardo have a similar new App coming out any week now.

I'm told it's the future . On a related subject, I did a firmware update on my Sena SRL2 a couple of weeks ago and had a long ride out on Thursday. The comms lasted from 0800 to 1830. It was being used constantly, except for an hour for luch but it wasn't switched off. It's never done that before. We were in line of sight about 80% of the time. It will be interesting to see if it repeats anywhere near that performance in the Spanish/French mountains in June.

Yep, I suspect that one of these days comms will work across brands.

I’m in the market for new comms, hence looking at the Sena 60s.
The salesmen weren’t too optimistic about it fitting my Schuberth C4.
The inbuilt comms in the C4 are rubbish and I’ve never got on with them , so a change is due.

There seems to be a number of new models of helmet with built in comms now, but I’m not really interested. Just drop your lid and the whole lot will need replacing!

A few I ride with have those Cardo Pac Talk Bold units. Once I've had enough of the fitted SRL2, that's what I'm going for. How are you, anyway?

All good here thanks Nathan.
Off to that there Europe on Monday in me van for a bit.

I’ll have another look at comms when I get back.

Hope all is well with you?

Would this system enable me to speak with my partner riding pillion, I have a Cardo Packtalk bold and she has a cheap shitty no name eBay headset. Have tried everything but can’t get the two units to communicate.

Got to be worth a try, especially as she's only sitting behind you. Can I suggest a firware update on both units before trying.

Have a great time. Are you all 'Europed up' with photos and fingerprints etc? I'm thinking of a long weekend in early May and at the tunnel demand to be bio'd! I'll probably get shot by that French guy, Dwayne. :ROFLMAO: I want to avoid having to do it in Santander with millions of others in June.

No, I’ll be in the queue with everyone else arriving in Santander.

At least the ferry docks at 8am, so we’ll have all day to line up and get documented. 🙄

Seriously though, I wish we checked who was coming into our country, it’s worry and lining uo future problems.

Maybe we’ll move to one of those beautiful houses in France that Arsey posts up.
