Wave rotors for BMW R 1200 GS?...

Has anyone put wave rotors on the front and/or rear of thier BMW R 1200 GS???....I was thinking of doing the to mine as an upgrade and for the trickness/bling factor as well...

Any thoughts???...

I'vehad Wave rotors on previous bikes as thye have advantages of reducing unsprung mass being lighter than standard rotors, they cut the pads which prevents glazing and they have the potential to improve braking in the wet as they have less surface area for water to gather on.

Having given the sales pitch ( ) the first thing that came in to my head after reading your post was could they give problems with a bike with ABS?

Personally I can think of loads of other things for the bike before these. Are they even available for the bike?

yep... Wunderlich do them... well someone else makes them, I forget who, but Wunderlich sell them www.wunderlich.de ... about EUR175.00 each...

I looked at them while I was at their headquarters in Germany, they looked solid enough, but naggin ABS doubts and lack of stock on hand stopped me getting them...

The chaps on the EBC stand at the NEC tried to sell me a set for my 1150! Worked out at £220 for the pair. MUCH cheaper than the Wunderlich kit.

Yeah. Don't waste your money unless you actually need new discs. They're simply not worth it. If you need new discs then it's a different story.

All ready seen it...they look so naff I'm lost for words

The 1200 looks so much better with the tank plastic bits sprayed to match the rest of the bike. I'm suprised BM don't do it as standard. It would make the bike appeal to more riders.

Well.....I found a set and they are on the way...

Just to satisfy your curiosity, they are going on my winter project bike: a BMW R 1200 GS bike with full carbon fiber and custom bites through out . Its a Hyper/supermoto/motard custom. 17" wheel sets and lots of bling/bling...carbon, titanium, billet, full race intake/exhaust/suspension...lots of one off custom stuff for details....it should be a done deal by spring, and ready to hit the Rocky Mountain canyons of my back yard...
