No doubt about it, GS 1100-1150 are very overpriced, and seem to get brought by dicks who dress then=m up with all jerry cans, xtra lights And such bollocks

But will only go proper touring in a group, With menus etc laid on

real value is in the 1100- 1150 R and with the change,You can buy a nice Rolex Sub 5513

You are obviously not a gs rider.
Fact 1150 and 1100 headlamps are shyte, hence the need for decent lamps.
Fact ,most touring people fit panniers, wether they are metal, plastic or fabric, they are a need, unless you just carry a toothbrush and are wiling to smell like high heaven for a few weeks.:augie
Fact, there are a large bunch of us heading for southern Italy in a few weeks for 10 days, with only 2 rooms booked and the rest of the time weve no idea where we are to kip or eat.
Fact the 1150r is a nice bike, but after rattling off 900 plus miles in a day you will appreciate a fairing that keeps the weather off.
Fact BMW GS1100/1150 series of motorcycles have one of the best capital retention values in the world, why? basicly because their good.
yes they have their faults, but the have the soul to want to go on forever, mileages of 300,000 miles plus are not uncommon.
I'm glad the gs bikes are how you describe"overpriced".It keeps them in the hands of people who deserve them.:beerjug:

Got these pussies well sussed :clap:D

How about touring on a (very old) 1100GS with alloy panniers and staying in B&B's - is that allowed? :augie

Mismatched plastic panniers and top box plus dry bag full of camping stuff... solo to the Black forest, Dolomites and Slovenia. guess I'm a real stereotype. :augie
