Wear the Fox hat!

And compromise is everything :D

Tell that to my wife and her hairdryer. Let me show you what she means by compromise when two round Europe last year:

Hence why I don't feel guilty bringing an actual mug! But she does leave me little notes stashed in my trousers for me to find on route so I don't mind. Ahhhhhh!

Anyway back to my tips.

#4 Lomo bags. They are an absolute bargain on Amazon and well worth the money. If I had one criticism, the canvas material on the outside gets a little damp but everything was bone dry inside. £25 that cost me, why pay more?

#5 stash your tool kit underneath the front. Saves trying to balance the panniers and I bought a little North Face Toiletry bag. Perfect for the job:

#6 Need power on the go? Get one of these bad boys. Sod it, get two. You won't need a plug for weeks. iPhone, iPad, GoPro, no problem.

That's all for now folks. I'm all tipped out for now.

This is my view tonight:

Sunny and 20 odd degrees. You want to hurry up and get here boys, you're missing out :)

First thing Monday morning we will be on our way, the boat will have docked in St Malo and we will start our decent towards Spain. Looks like you're having fun, glad the weather's cheered up, it's not so much fun riding in the rain.

Sweet Dreams.....

nice to be woken my he sun in the morning for a change rather than the sound of rain. Check out my cosy living quarters..

Got chatting in the bar last night and a group of us are heading out for a spot of trail riding today. Exciting.

That will be shagged by the end of Morocco.....:D

That's what I'm thinking too. Anyone know any decent tyre places in Southern Spain???? Boys, any chance one of you could do a but if research before you leave, I reckon I'm going to need some new rubber when we get back into Spain.

Speak to Patrick Trahan at the HUMM, the tour company he runs in Malaga are importers or dealers for Heidenau. Maybe he will do you a deal.

Good tip. I've sent Susan an email to see if she can get in touch with him and explore the art of the possible. If I can have a set of rubber there waiting for me that would be top drawer. Am I a dreamer?!

What a day. Where to begin? Excitement, tumbles, drama, trails trails and more glorious trails. We set off about half 10 and I was feeling confident. This was soon shattered after I took a tumble in the first 5 minutes. To be fair, they were steep inclines with tight switch backs and head sized bolders in the way. I guess it was inevitable. Frustratingly, we had done this route in reverse of the norm and so ordinarily you would have the testing bit at the end after you've 'warmed up'. No harm done and after a while I soon got into the rhythm of things. Turns out the guy leading us was an ex pro trails rider. The fact he was riding a massive Aprillia Raid on road tyres lead me to believe I might stand a chance of keeping up with him but boy was I wrong. Strangely, neither could his poor wife who, on only her second day ever off-roading, got completely lost. She had taken a wrong turn and it took us nearly half an hour to locate her and I've got to tell you she was not happy. Oliver definitely won't be getting any tonight ;)

4 hours in and the wives of the 2 guys decided they'd had enough and went back to the campsite and so it was time for the big boys to go have some fun. Between the ex-pro rider the Ralf on his little Suzuki 350, I had trouble keeping up but my beast of a bike made it through in one piece to see another day.

My only real issue is that it was only 25 degrees today but I was soaked through to the skin all day long. My jacket is next to useless in the heat but I don't have an alternative option so I'll just have to suck it up buttercup. More trails planned for tomorrow. It's been fantastic getting my hand in now before Morocco. As long as my bike makes it through, I think it can only serve as good preparation for the remainder of the trip. Some pics to follow.

5 mins in and I get my first battle scar:

The group at the top of the first pass:

Some of the trails. (They always look easier in pictures but some parts were quite challenging. At times it felt like my bike would shake to bits):

A taste of the kind of views we had today:

More yet:

I do sympathise. The trails look dead easy but I know the camera never shows them as they are. But great pics!

If you are out for a day run again, take your screen off.

25ºC is still cool, Fez is forecast to be 38ºC next week, Marrakech 41ºC. At 1700m, Ifrane will be cooler but still forecast to be 28ºC this coming Monday.

It's a bit late for you now but I use a Rev'itt Air Jacket in the summer months, the air zips through the mesh and you hardly know it's there.

Yeah I did think about taking the screen off. As it is it is perfectly positioned to take my head clean off. I may get the tool kit in he morning while I'm waiting for the others.

And I definitely need to invest in a decent summer jacket if I'm going to be doing any of this again.

Looks like you had an excellent day, beautiful scenery, the spring is always my favourite season of the year......what you up to tomorrow?

Great thread Pete
I don't fancy my chances much if you've already taken a tumble?! I like your wets kit, it's a third of the size of mine, but then my contains a gas cooker and lamp! I still haven't got my bike back yet but expect it to be ready tomorrow, no time to 'run in' the new final drive but hey ho! Susan has just emailed a letter from the Tourism Office which should speed up the immigration process, if you can't print it out over there forward it to me and I'll bring a copy down for you.
Keep the posts coming, it'll keep me focused while I'm packing and shaving  tomorrow night!
Cheers
Bazzer
