Took a run out to the highlands today, seeing as Miss Wiplash of Edinburgh has loosened the shackles.

Stopped at the big layby above the Corrieshalloch gorge for another brew and ended up chatting with a 1250GS rider who was on his way home . . . to Tyndrum, after riding up to Durness! A 500+ mile day for him!! Makes my 270+ mile round trip look a little feeble

Still fairly light traffic on the more northern roads, so happy days.
Wonder what tomorrows traffic will be like?

PS - if your riding the Dundonnell road, watch out for feral goats. They were everywhere. Never seen so many of the skittery little feckers before

Out at last. A wee Glen Devon blast yesterday.

And tomorrow’s forecast looks good so an early alarm has been set.

Will flip a coin for either a big Galloway loop or a big Tomintoul / Loch Awe loop.

What great roads we have on our doorstep.

Hottest day of the year the weather man said.

With a good forecast, I planned an early start for a ride round one of my favourite loops. However, a road closure on the A93 at Blacklunans screwed my plan as no satisfactory diversion was on offer. My long winded alternative ended with me breaking open my flask under the railway bridge at Montrose before routing West towards Tomintoul.

After a few miles of single track diversion I did enjoy some new roads. Very few places open, but 8 grabbed a bite and coffee in the wee shop in Fettercairn.

One of the best new roads for me was the B976 from Strachan to Dinnet. Still some grit on the roads over the Lecht, but the best discovery was the huge amount of lovely smooth tarmac that has been laid in the past year. Lots of it. Of note was the A86 from Newtonmore to Spean Bridge. Wonderful.

Fort Bill to Ballachulish was the usual PITA nose to tail, but after that all was clear again. I’ve never had so much road all to myself. Down to Connel then my favourite stretch from Taynuilt to Tyndrum. Brill.

I captured 2 more ex-AA boxes for m6 collection. For the first time I opened the door to see a selection of tourist info plus old pictures of the box’s history.

The Green Welly looked odd with only 3 bikes.

With my early diversion, I got home after a 12 hour day and a mere 437 miles. Good for my second ride of the year.

That is indeed a journey, top marks.

I did about 100 miles yesterday on the wee snorter, Dunkeld/Aberfeldy/Pitlochry/Moulin/Home, lovely.

No pics I'm afraid.

Any leads on the assault ??

Back of the Ferryden bridge, I walk that way once a week and never, ever seen a m/b there.
So that's a first.

Plus good mileage for one day. :thumb2
I was out last week and wanted to see how far I could get on a tankful on my GSA.
Managed 320 miles with about 20 in reserve.
I too was surprised at how quiet some of the roads were.

Nice Guzzi, were you in Blairgowrie on Thursday morning? If not then there is a another one about.

310 miles for me yesterday across to the west coast Blairgowrie/Corran ferry/Lochaline/Strontain/ Lochailort/Fort Bill/Spean Bridge/Dalwhinne/Moulin Moor /Blair.

Wasn't me, I did pass through Blair yesterday though on the GSA on me way to the other Glenshee. Rode home over Moulin Moor too (some stonking roads/runs in & around Perth & Kinross region :thumb2)
