Weathers kinda nice - time to ride!

We have had what feels like weeks of low cloud and mist over the river. Chilly too as the sun has rarely broken through.
As the rain comes tomorrow I decided to take a ride to the coast. Completely different over there, once out of the Snowdonia foothills. Only 11C at home but 17C at Aberdovey and a blue sky. Fish and chips from the excellent Walker's Chip shop - small fish and a cone of chips for £7.85 is perfect for lunch, sat on the promenade.

That blue sky

Decided to burn through a full tank of dino juice using the F9XR, with anywhere along the west coast being the target . . .
Went via here . . .

Made it as far west as the turning for Stratchcarron on the A87, just before Kyle - close enough to the west coast.

Wandered back via Strathcarron and Achnasheen. 252 miles according to the nag nav, bike says slightly less!

Roads were mainly wet for most of the day but I only got rained on a couple of times - all very short episodes.

But the sun did shine for most of the day, so all in all a cracking longest ride so far on the red bike (y)

The red bike will be off the road for the winter so I thought I'd best take it for a test ride after fitting engine bars, pannier racks and a sump guard, just to make sure nowt falls off . . .

There be snow on them there hills

Bridge of Balgie. River Lyon running high. Roads wet and dirty. Lots of leaf mulch in some areas. Temp 8 to 20 degrees.
Glen Lyon Post Office cafe was a welcome stop. They are on winter opening hours Fri to Mon 1000 to 1600.

Very theraputic! this motorcycling malarky.
Very few vehicles out and about and not one other motorcyclist seen over the 110 mile loop.
Temp went from a balmy 10 degrees C too no lower than 6 degrees, even as I rode past the Lecht ski area.
Still some enthusiastic plank users out slithering down the rapidly reducing snow covered slopes.

At last time off duty coincides with half decent weather.

Time to give the new Rocket a go ….

Initial thoughts, it has Tq like the USS Nimitz and takes off in second gear like a scolded cat.

It’s ok ish………

I found that above say 40 it’s fine, anything less and clearly it’s a big old girl to lug about.

I ran it in rain mode initially and it still felt quick to me.

In road mode the Tq is frankly ludicrous.

When I rode it home, ( if only you were closer), I thought that the front TP may have been a bit low, but it’s spot on.

I think it would be a tough job getting it over say the Stelvio without featuring on that Italian blokes ‘Stelvio bend’ videos.

Open sweeping bends are where it belongs I’d say 👍🏽

Oh and for me it definitely passes the, look back at it, test
