Just got back from the west coast but tried to avoid the major roads. The way up was via Fife back roads around Rosyth and Dunfermline then via Knockhill to Gleneagles, Amulree and Kenmore. (No problems in summer Bob / Ronnie.) The wee gem I have in mind though is the B847 from Tummel Bridge which links up with the A9. Lots of bends and switch backs as you climb up the glen.

On the way back, another wee gem is the road that links the B861/862 Fort Augustus road to Findhorn Bridge on the old A9. It's little more than a skin of tarmac on an old drove road so it's not for coaches, caravans etc :thumb2 but perfect for a bike!

Anyone got any other wee gems to recommend? Little known roads that are perfect for bikes?

The back road from Rogart down Strath Brora to Brora.

Brilliant...apart from the cattle grid strategically placed on a sharp bend....interesting in the wet on TK's.

Loch Ness, both sides. Not really little known but a pleasure you should indulge yourself with.

Early morning or evening when its more or less empty.

Been known to go round it 4 or 5 times in one day, best before the tourists turn up and the weather and loch are still.
