As ever to throw a spanner in the works, i can't make Thursday.

If you want to meet at 7 instead, thats cool, or is that too late?

OK chaps, we'll leave it at the original plan - 6pm on Wednesday - get to Avebury too late and likely to be no food left ;)

Pooh!!!

Clive,

If I don't text you (because I forget) thanks for the call. Well slap me with a kipper, I will be in Bracknell most of the day.... perfect I hear you say.

Trouble is I need to rush back to Bristol for my "clasroom" IAM course.!!!!!Poooh!!!

Thanks for thinking of me.

Did the Fossway on Sunday, Brill :D

I'm helping a mate move house to Wroughton today!!! Don't think I could get back for 6:00. I'll call you latter Clive if I think I could make it.

Mel: I feel of on the Ridgeway the other weekend and the crash bars and head protectors did a great job at saving the bike.

Clive - I will not ride out tonight - it's 0900 and raining on the Ridgeway and forecast to get worse. ANd I didn't manage to get crash bars fitted which I decided was a pre-requisite. Next time. But thanks for organising.

Re Cooper Reading: I emailed their dealer manager and asked what was going on but he has not replied yet.

I called Coopers for prices on engine crash bars but the guy who answered the phone was clearly not from 'bikes' - he said he'd get back to me but never did.

I was in Cooper's yesterday. I asked Paul what was going on but he was a little hazy.

So... who knows?

PS - if you set out tonight but want to bail out half way then I am happy to put the kettle on - I am in all evening. Tel 01235 762 455. Letcombe Regis.

Well we tried.

It was way too muddy to make ay decent progress, we both came off (Clive twice :dabone ) though i broke my indicator, properly bent the rear brake lever (sticking b/light on  ) and i think knocked the bars slightly out of whack. A good effort i think. My superman impression was quite impressive as i flew from the bike!

Can't believe how muddy Clive's bike got though!

Have another go when it hasn't been pissing down all day

Usual stuff - start at 6pm from Streatley aiming to reach Avebury around 8pm (see earlier in thread for directions etc)

I'm assuming it'll be drier/easier than the attempt last week but I'll be on the pogostick just in case that is a poor assumption :D

It we have to bail out early then Tea and Cakes at Mel's ;)

Change of plan - I'll be able to leave home earlier so I'm going exploring some tracks I haven't done over Lambourne way.

Can I come?

Are nobblies required or will I be OK with Tourances?

Where to meet?

Bla bla :-)

Exploring around Lambourn ? Of course you can.

Not sure about tyres - these will be tracks I haven't done - if it stays dry then I'd imagine Tourances will be ok.

I'll see how the time goes, but I'll be starting around Chieveley, then heading West - Leckhampstead, Great Shefford and hopefully Lambourn. These are just picked off the Explorer 158 O/S map - not sure of current status or anything - making it up as I go along as usual ;)

I'll be trying to take notes and photos etc to include in the "Lanes Database"

M4 J13 Chieveley Services would be a good meeting place - the earliest I can be there is probably 4.30 - what time did you have in mind ?

Cant make it that early I'm afraid. Have to pretend to do some work today. Will be coming in from the Slough area so anywhere J13 is OK but anywhere nearer to London will be cool.

Say 5:30 to give me time to get westwards?

Andy

I did the ridgeway from Streatly through to Fox Hill last night on the way home from work - Awesome!! nice and dry, got the bike airborne in a few places, and managed to rip it up to about 50 in places  :D

So, if it hasn't rained heavily by Wed (7th), fancy another attempt at getting to Avebury?

I'm just back from a week in France - probably a bit late to reply ;)

I have next week off as well - I'm hoping to get out on some of the ridgeway "feeders" to start recording info for the lanes database. Let me know if this Wednesday 14th is any good - or any other day/evening next week for that matter :D
