As a 'welcome to the family' trip for my new (to me) 1100GS, I would like to take my Mrs on a trip up north to see some nice roads and mountains. Now ive spent a fair bit of time up and about without her, but its mostly been by car to go walking/climbing.

Would like to do 2 legs, with just one overnight which will (i think) be spent in the applecross camp site. Ive read many, many ride reports for the various roads up there but im struggling to come up with a route plan as im a simple creature, and deciding which to do and which to forego whilst linking them up in a workable loop is hurting my 2 remaining brain cells.

Any pointers much appreciated.

Heading up your way in June for ten days.

We're taking in Applecross one day on this route.

And heading in the opposite direction on one of the other days on this route.

Both routes reliably put together by some of the locals in our group.

Might give you some ideas :thumb

Just ride up towards Braemar and on towards Inverness, cut across towards Ullapool and cut down to Applecross. Spend the night then ride south towards Kyle of Lochalsh back towards Fort William, down to Aberfoyle and home.

Bingo, job done

Fife to Perth. A93 Blairgowrie-Braemar, towards Ballater, turn left at Crathie, turn left on to A939, up to Cock Bridge, over The Lecht, Tomintoul, Granton, follow A939 to Nairn, A96 into Inverness(you can avoid the A96 by fiddling west through Cawdor into Inverness), A9 over Kessock Bridge up as far as Garve, turn left A832 to Kinlochewe, turn left A896 to Shieldaig, turn right just south of Shieldaig to Applecross. Easy day run.

Applecross over Bealach to A896, turn right to Kishorn and then Lochcarron, turn right a mile or so east of Lochcarron taking A890 to Attadale and on to A87 at Auchtertyre, turn left , through Kintail and Shiel, past Cluanie, mile or so after Cluanie Dam turn right...still A87, over the top of the Garry into Invergarry, turn right A82 past Commando Memorial into Spean Bridge, turn left A96 through Roy Bridge on to Laggan, turn right on to A889 to Dalwhinnie, turn right on to A9...boring but soon done, turn left at Bruar through Blair Atholl, Killiecrankie, into Pitlochry, turn left A924 to Bridge of Cally, turn right onto A93 into Blairgowrie, Perth, Fife.

I've done that circuit many times from home.. just north of Bridge of Cally.. in a day, so easily doable in two.

Good day out.

Or the other way about.
