I had a spare weekend to test some Bike & Camping bits prior to my upcoming European trip, and quickly put together a weekend jaunt to Wem. I used the new MRA route generator to put a route together - and tweak it around some towns. Using mostly backroads, lanes & B-roads it was a 200 mile / 7 hour journey (including stops) from home to the Campsite at Abbey Green Farm. A great little campsite in the Countryside, close to Wem, Whitchurch and other villages. Unfortunately i was not able to sample the onsite Tea & Scones and home made pizzas. It's a well kept site with good facilities, and outdoor seating/eating are. It's surrounded by greenery and is wonderfully peaceful during the night, and only the noise of farm animals during the day.
The weather was a little cool on Saturday until early afternoon, and was then warm in the high teens until the evening & a comfortable 10 degrees overnight. Sunday started off much warmer not long after packing the Bike up and leaving at 8.30 is was 14 degrees and climbing.
