I am looking to get a quest navigator and it will be my first GPS system.

I have noticed that you can get a hardly used Quest1 for about £220 on ebay. As most of these were registered before 1st Jan you are not entitled to the free CN8 update, I believe from reading threads that this will cost about £48.

There is a Garmin dealer selling these units brand new on ebay for £275 with free postage. As this would be unregistered I will qualify for the free update saving £48.

I will get a brand new unit with a years warrenty. These are a UK based outfit with over 5000 feedback and 99.4% positive.

So does this sound like the right way to go :nenau Seems to make sense getting new as the overall costs work out about the same.

Well, I maybe wrong but…
European versions of the Quest I had 243mb of internal memory (useful!).
The ones I’m looking at on flebay, new @ £275 have 115mb of internal memory (so the blurb says). That makes me think they’re Americas base map units with the lower memory capacity.

Can anyone else comment, I’m not a Quest user.

I'd definitely ask the question about the memory - the seller could, of course, have lifted the wrong bit of text off the Garmin site.

The Navigation Company in Hertford are selling the Atlantic Basemap ones for £289.99 incl.vat, so might be another option.

I have sent the seller a question asking if he can confirm if it's a European model.

PS... thanks for the link, That is a very good price. I will probably purchase from them as searches on Google list the cheapest at £296.

Well I have ordered one from The Navigation Company... Thanks for the link Samwise :thumb

I sent the question to ebay seller and he said that it was European model version 6 but it does say only 113mb internal storage.

The one I ordered has 243mb so should be ok for my needs.

One question... can the Quest be powered from the bike or is it battery only?
Tried doing a search but could not find anything.

Yes it can ...and while it is it is recharging the GPS battery. You need the appropriate cradle for this .

I take it this is the powered mount :nenau

Looking to get one of Migsels speedo mounts as well as I like the idea of the screen being more eye level, does this seem like a good setup?
