Well done,Scotland

Aye they`ll get my vote too.

Cant see what all the fuss was about when it came to his arrival in Libya, if one of our own was brought back from a foreign jail when we thought he was innocent then would we celebrate and welcome him? Too right we would.
Maybe some truth will come out of this......eventually........

Who the f**k do the Ham Shanks think they are anyway?????

Lets all boycot Harleys, oh wait a minute:blast, we probably do already:P

Like racial equality, you either believe in showing humanity or you don’t. You can’t pick and choose who is entitled. As Hebby said, our justice system allows for compassion to be shown and as far as I understand, the request for release on humanitarian grounds passed all the necessary criteria. What kind of message would it be to the world if our justice minister had then rejected it?

Henry McLeish was on the radio this morning and made a couple of valid points. Firstly he suggested that it was unfair for Kenny McAskill to be put in this position and that whatever decision he made, he would have had a hard time afterwards. Secondly, he made the obvious observation that he could not have foreseen what would happen when Megrahi landed back in Libya.

However, I think you might be right, Tuscan. I don’t think the crowds were cheering him because they thought he blew up the plane. I assumed they believed he was innocent and held in a foreign jail like you say.

And yes, Zundapp, I had noticed that the shooting down of the Iranian passenger plane in July of the same year seemed to have been forgotten about…

If American red necks are up in arms about Scotland, doesn’t that mean our government must be doing something right?...

+1......and I take some comfort that that Bill & Hilary are very, very angry,

that tells me the right thing was done. :D

I wouldn't go as far as giving the SNP my vote....
QUOTE]

C'mon Klanky. Surely you'll no be votin for they English tory bampots...? Includin the ones callin themselves new labour...:augie

Nah, fookthelotofthem.

Up here there's only one guy I'd trust - Mr Lord John Thurso, probably the only politician who gets support accross the board in the Far North.

He's a Lib Dem, but more to the point he's a local MP who knows the value of that.......

As for national voting...none of them impress me.

Aye,

Bill Clinton...

.....the very one who appeared in Ireland talking about "Peace and Forgiveness (providing no American victims are involved")....:augie

Do you not get it ?
Why are they recalling parliement AFTER the decision was made.
This way we get the oil contracts with Libya, but the parliament gets to wring its hands and give it Wailey Wailey....terribly sorry Obama, but it wisnae us !
Mandy and Gadafi's son had it all stitched up months ago.
It was BLAIR that signed the prisoner exchange treaty with Libya.
How many Libyan prisoners did we hold at the time.......1.
Guess which one.

That's how long this has been in the offing.

Dinna tell me that this is all down to MacAskill.

I'd bet my hoose that MacAskill resigns soon. Spends a wee while on a beach somewhere and then comes back into a plum job, with a gong eventually.

Or, just give him a peerage then he can have a top job without ever bothering with all that nasty election business........now, where does that sound familiar ?.......eh Mandy ?

First lesson on international politics............are you paying careful attention........ready..........

IT'S ALWAYS ABOUT THE OIL !

IT'S ALWAYS ABOUT THE OIL !

Hardly a revelation.

All international politics revolve around either trade, political gain or land - or concessions on the former three.

T'was ever so.

What pisses me off is the indignant, hypocritical, self righteousness of the US over this.

I don't give a feck about the Oil, we either get it or we don't. Such is life. I don't go in for all this wailing about "it's all about oil!" because it should be obvious to the most dim-witted plank on the planet that nobody does anything in international politics unless there is a long term benefit for someone, somewhere.

The guy just is a pawn on the International stage, the rest of us are pawns just waiting to be used..........

Maybe Bill will be going straight up to Skibo and tear his honorary tree up from its roots and chuck it in the Dornoch Firth.:D

Could the British government be guilty of something:confused:

They are awfy quiet which is not like them when they have a an opportunity to have a dig at the SNP and the Scottish parliament.

Broon had somethin' to say in the press aboot baith Jade Goody and Susan Boyle FFS. Seems fishy that he's nae comment aboot this (mind you, he's maybe no' got internet connection at his holiday bolt hole in the East Neuk o' Fife ).

East Neuk/fishy (gettit? :P)

what about the oil?

Makes sense to me - the guy is close to death, oil in the North Sea is fast running out, and Libya has loads of the stuff. The Scots (no doubt with a bit of pressure from Gordo) set Megrahi free and after a suitable time lag we'll no doubt start seeing heavy armament heading off to Libya and tankers of oil heading back this way.

Or am I too much of a cynic?

And the Scots were just being kind?

Who gives a flying F#ck what the Yanks think. I've been boycotting them for years already :P
As state sponsors of terrorism the Yanks have no right to claim any moral high ground . Sponsors of the IRA for year , sponsoring Columbian rebels, Afghani and Iraqi factions, Somali rebels.... sponsors of extra ordinary rendition, torture and camp X-ray .... the list goes on and on.
Well done Scotland . If the Libyan fella was guilty I wish him a long and painful life which with the level of medical care available in Libya he will likely get. If he was the fall guy then let him die at home with his family. We will never know the facts but come judgement day when he shuffles of this mortal coil , he'll have his justice. :reaper

Hmmm....

Thinking about it, now would be a very good time to go to Libya with a couple of Scottish stickurs on the bike.

I get the impression that you would be very, very welcome.:thumb2
