Well I've really broke it this time!

Ohhhhh yes, I remember that little job. I think it was a hacksaw job in the end, they were totally scrap...

The two to the front of the carrier have delaminated, leaving a metal disc bolted to the frame, is the nut a captive (to the frame) one? I've not really looked at it yet and was just going to drill the center out which seemed the easier way if it was a loose nut but perhaps not so clever if it's a captive nut:nenau

Shep

It's not captive. They usually end up spinning if you try to drill them I usually end up taking the centre out with an angle grinder.

+1, or if you can, bend them up and hold the folded washer with mole grips...
Remember to copperslip the nuts when replacing....
Now get some of this>>

1 tube lasts me at least 5 years, I use it for rebuilding engines, finaldrives, and assembly of all linkages..especially rear brake pivot and pedal pivots
I even use it on my gearbox/ clutch spline....

BTW , my mate is getting back to me about powder coating the frame in "Basic" blue :thumb2

Ebay has a seller of Graphogen @ £16.00 inc pp>>

Just down the road from me:thumb2

Hi Shep

If you are near Roe Engineering you cant be far from me. I live within a mile of the place. Never been in there but always wondered what they did.

I have a 1989 R100GS and I am pretty good on Bing carbs and electrics if you run into problems in these areas.

That's ideal, Roe engineering used to be the top choice for rebores and crank grinding, good quality work at a good price, that was all a long time back now, not so sure what they are best at nowadays.

I'm in Basingstoke so not far down the road.

Electrics were going to be a big issue, a mangled loom with many repairs along with alarms speakers immobilisers spotlights etc all bodged in, but I've bought a new loom now so fingers crossed all will be well when it goes back together as close to standard as I can get:thumb2

I will certainly be in contact if I get issues.

Well i've been doing OK till now:(

Steering head bearing races they've got me stumped for now, spent a couple of hours making a nice little puller to retreive the races, only for it to snap at the first attempt:blast

Heating the frame up now and i'm gonna beat it up with a hammer, it might not do the job but at least i might feel better:augie

Two little holes is all that they needed to drill, would have been easy
