It all started with an intention to paint the frame on the 'Camel' but has left me with a list of 'to do's' which may render the whole bike rebuilt.
On taking the bike apart its apparant that the wiring loom has suffered from some very unsympathetic/unskilled abuse. Some mods have been done which defy logic ( the loom was stripped, split then rejoined so the frame tube ran between the individual wires making it impossible to remove!) an alarm had been fitted along with an immobiliser and an inline switch to switch all power off via a relay all done with little or no sympathy IMHO
So new loom/s needed IMO, does anybody still sell them??
A flat red relay(sorry not sure what it is?) under the tank has suffered a fire in the past not even sure what it does but a new one is certainly needed.
Most of the fixings to the rear of the bike were loose, very strange. But piles of washers under various fixings where a hacksaw to shorten the bolts would have been a better idea could be the reason
Rear mud guard has a little strut on the LHside that attaches to the sub frame but nothing on the right is that correct?
Cracked rear subframe ( i knew about that though!)
Drive shaft has a little slack on the rearmost UJ.
Took 6hrs to strip the bike to its big component parts the wiring was the worst bit by far, the engine and box is a bit of a lump to handle on your own so I may take the box off to refit else there will be no paint left on the the frame by the time i've battled getting it back in! Is that right or are you all double hard super men that refit the lot complete!
Wheels are to be re strung, engine stripped and inspected, new valves/guides and timing chain etc are minimum requirements I feel, there are slight leaks under the pushrod tubes so I may fit some SS ones while i'm at it.
I fear the more I dig in, the more issues i'm going to find but I'm gonna stick with it for now but I fear now that the costs will rise above the budget I had in mind for the rebuild/repaint (£1500)

Quite easy to re-wire as the loom is only able to be fitted one way...best asking for someone to photo there loom in situ for you to work from
