Well that’s not going to help……

Pierer Mobility AG has announced that Stefan Pierer has stepped down as CEO of Austrian motorcycle manufacturer KTM.

Gottfried Neumeister will take over the management of’ as part of’a reorganization of management, but Pierer will remain as co-CEO.

This announcement was made just before a major court hearing concerning KTM AG and its two subsidiaries, scheduled for 24 January at the regional court of Ried im Innkreis in Upper Austria.

At that date, the registered claims of creditors will be examined, with the conviction that 5,400 persons or companies are liable for money (debt?). This list includes the city of Mattighofen, where KTM is based, for outstanding payments related to’ sanitation and’ waste disposal.

These creditors allegedly pressured Pierer to abandon his duties.

Long way back for KTM, a load of bikes in stock, everyone knows they are year old bikes when they appear for sale, the Adventures will be hit hard as they have advertised the 1390, so nobody gonna pay close to top dollar for te "old model", only thing in their favour is the Adventures were a bit cheaper than the GS / Ducati anyway, so may still look good value to anyone not worried about the risk of them going pop & future warranty / support.

The 790 / 890 / 990 have the cams debacle hanging over them, take into account the state of KTM and the risk they may still go bust even if rescued and probably won't be looking to spend a fortune on warranty claims - they did their best not to honour warranty during their best years!

There is also a lot of competition in that sector and the new Triump 800 sport (+ the 900s) looks like another strong contender, on top of the upcoming Hornet and well established T700 from Yamaha, and the CF Moto's undercut the KTM's significantly for a very similar bike - and talking of the Chinese, there is also the Kove 700 - IMHO any of the KTM parallel twins would need to be bloody cheap to make them worth the gamble.

Don't know much about the smaller road bikes.

Best bargains could be the offroaders, as they never had any warranty to begin with, so possibly some good delas coming up on them?

But where would that leave them next year, anyone who fancies a KTM will grab a bargain as they clear the old stock, leaving them stuck with the following years models.......

....Oh, hold on, that will just be back to business as usual then!
