Well away with the lads last weekend in Ludlow when my bike played up, limp home mode activated second to last day of a 5 night break. No problems i thought extended warranty and call Bahnstomers (my dealer) to expect recovery,Told them the problem and that I was due to head out to Berlin in July for the Mototorrad weekend and I was told they could not look at it before August 🤬🤬 Bit disappointed to say the least (No good having extended warranty if the dealer cannot help in your hour of need )
Oh well looked at Local Dealers to where we were staying and Rybrook Motorrad comes up gave them a call couldn’t have been more helpful. called Carol Nash recovery who recovered my bike to them without issue. Next day bike all fixed with new throttle as the ride bye wire was the problem, unfortunately the warranty does not cover that so £307 later, but I cannot fault the help I got from Rybrook and at least my bike is fixed and Ii could ride home after a great weekend in the borders with the lads

I was advised by the recovery guy who picked up my bike that BMW assist was the best way to get recovered. He said because BMW assist are involved the receiving dealer has 48hrs to report back to the mothership so it leapfrogs the bikes in for service etc. Not sure if anyone can confirm or deny this.

True :thumby:

Plus you get onward transportation for the period your bike is in for repair but that's assuming that the OP has a BMW Used Bike Warranty ?

Not true , in Austria at least. march 2019 I bought a new GS, it told me to contact a workshop in May 2019 in Austria. It got recovered back to the Innsbruck dealer. 3 days later after many calls to Allianz ( bmw recovery operations ) and being told they didn’t know what was going on. I went to the dealer to find out what was happening.
they had the bike , but had no idea of what it was in for. I asked why , and was told it had been dropped off with no explanation so they are waiting for instructions. BMW was waiting for a report from the dealer so no one gave a f##k. the problem was a low fuel pressure reading. That’s all.
hence I now ride A couple of Hondas. Better build quality and dealers.

`True`, `wrong`, `right`, `wrong`...........
Don`t you just love the fucking internet for the accuracy and validation of gathering actual factual information and accurate diagnosis?

Sorry for the mini-rant, i have been scouring the web today in the vain hope of gathering info into the possible cause of a coolant loss/head gasket failure on Mrs Hanns Ford and have read approximately 1000 posts with 1001 differing answers/solutions......

As I posted before my bikes starter motor looks like it’s on the way out , rang up motorrad dealer who could not look at it until mid July ,i said I was hoping to go to Europe at the end of June It was suggested that I could always still go as my extended warranty would cover me in Europe which is true however the reason they could not see me for 6 weeks was all the recalls they were dealing with .I thought I wouldn’t want to be abroad and be told by the foreign motorrad dealer the same backlog would apply and be stuck abroad for 6 weeks

BMW warranty, It doesn’t cover the flapper valve either and shortly due to mileage the suspension
They're both mileage limited items and have been since day dot.

However ... If you'd have had the breakdown/recovery feature on your policy, the bike would have been recovered to your chosen dealer and you could then have been having a discussion with them directly as to what would almost certainly have turned into a goodwill claim, rather than being told by the non supplying dealer "it's not warranty"

Extended warranty hardly worth the paper it’s written on Exhaust flap on my 18 Rt wasn’t covered Goodwill claim replaced the expensive parts £360 labour later I’m well impressed. Despite the mothership knowing of and not fixing the problem.
Bike now sold after 40yrs of bm ownership I’m now on a Guzzi V85. So far so good.
