Sinking fast under work and family stuff, only getting out Sundays, seeing Tims post on Wales ,Julie and I thought it was time for a break.

We have been to Wales several times on Walking and Family holidays but not for about 15 years.
Time to return and have a good look at some of the small roads and also catch a few High Pass Roads as part of our routes.
We chose Betwys – Y – Coed as our base and found what turned out to be one of the best Guest Houses we have ever stayed in Glenwood.

Off at 10.30am with the plan to lunch at Ponderosa on the Horshoe Pass. We ride to our first high road at top of Snake Pass. We take a few photos and depart, ½ mile later Feck Me I`ve been stung on me neck, nowhere to safely stop Man up and ride on, 3 more stings and the pain is bad. Pull in at the end of the pass , shed some layers and off flies a ruddy great wasp. Ow , thankfully don’t have an allergy to Jaspers.

We arrive at Ponderosa for Lunch and go light on lunch because we will be eating out tonight.

Julie and I purchased 2 lidl waterproof bags total spend £19.98 thanks to a recommend on here. No panniers for a 4 day trip. Stayed Dry in heavy rain.

If this is genuine BVM I think it will have cost much more.

This little beauty attracting much attention.

The views encouraged us on.

Lets get lost in Wales backroads.

Met on arrival at Glenwood with a choice of Tea or Coffee and two little cakes. There is a garage for the bikes, all though we left ours out .
.
Settle in and plan our Wales rampage.
Have brought Mrs Satnag and laptop with two day routes on and the o/s maps115,116,124 and 125 just in case.
Weather looks mixed ,who cares. Have brought extra waterproofs.
Off out to see what the Town has to offer. Recommended by BandB owner Stables Grill, Bistro Betwys – Y – Coed and Pont y Pair Inn
Our favourite on all levels for the week.

Julie enjoying the sunshine on our walk into Town.

Mum and daughter getting in the shade.

Welsh Rarebit for Mrs B and Lentil and tomatoe soup with a hint of sage mmmmm

Off to bed after a long day.
Day two Wednesday 28th May
Awake at 6am new bed different place always the same,(reads excited like little boy wanting to go and play). Have a chat at breakfast with two guys from the Netherlands on 1200GS bikes. We discuss where we are going respectively. Two lovely blokes.
Top breakfast and they have made a packup for Julie and I £6.00 between us as this is a very big day out and not sure on timings. We had our lunch in the lee of a rock outcrop on Bwlch Y Groes ,I know Im a romantic old fool. No expense spared for my Wife I can tell you.

This route as it unfolded covered some epic roads. We had some good fortune at times with the weather . Will post a few pics of today , you Welsh Folk have kept these roads quiet a fantastic day. Will PM route if requested as too big to drop in here. Had our own mini adventure getting on a road that was closed but not where we entered it ha ha ha. Great fun and Julie who hates anything scary was brilliant. We had a big laugh about it . More later.

We round a corner and come across a tree crossing the path, off we go,lets keep going.

Limbo Maaaaaan

We pass under a couple more of these and then have to do a bit of gardening to clear the road so Julie will cross the branches. We both crossed , my rhino hardly noticed, Julie going a little slower had a near off. We carry on.

A mile later the biggest tree root system I have ever seen was totally blocking the road. The reality dawned on the Mrs , we have to go back over them branches.
We walked the route before going through this time, my front end shifted but a size 10 heavy dab corrected it and Julie sailed through grinning from ear to ear.. Maps out and over a banana apiece we were able to follow the road to continue our journey.
She is only little but so strong. Its all the zumba classes.

and heres her familiar. Sneeked up on her when she was doing a selfie.
A fun mini adventure.

A wonderful long day on nearly all back roads . Fantastic fun
Thursday 29th May
Less of a day today only 75 miles, more high pass roads some pics on J.Boxers post on here.
We set off and climb on a little back road and it is getting quite misty.

From the Nant Ffrancon Pass

OH OH OH OH , Staying Alive

Its either A5 nawwwww or this instead.
.

Onto Llanberis or Pen Y Pass and a quick stop.

Back onto squiggly roads.

Up towards the Crimea Pass on our route back to base.

Back to the B and B and off shopping for gifts for Daughters and Granddaughter,
Then later on and because its dinner time I thought you would like to see some pictures of our last nights food.
Apparently an amused bouche of sample foods mmmmmm even though it looks like owl pellets.

Finally a complimentary sweet.

A most enjoyable few days away. Refreshed , No. Rested ,No
Enjoyed on a scale of 1 to 10.
