Went to see Mr Wessall today to pick up some fancy new toys for the bike, bloody well worth the trip down the road (literally lol) Got the complete kit for my GSA (50W/55W H7/H7R, and 2x35W for the spots). Instructions in the kit are bloody awesome and very detailed, so even an idiot like me can work something out :D

And within 5 minutes of getting back home from seeing Les, my bike looked like this:

(I've wrapped & bagged all the connectors which I unplugged so they don't get wet tonight.)

Missing items ready to be butchered by a drill :green gri

I'll post up some more pics as I fit 'em though :)

Well I've now fitted them, and what a fiddly-ass job that was lol! Took a few hours, but hey its done. Will get some pictures up later.

But one problem now, I guess I had the dials out for too long, as its now saying SERVICE on the display, so not sure whether to get this sorted out & reset to the correct mileage/date, or just put up with it??

More bits removed... Also modified and re-fitted the cooler guard I made, otherwise the new mounting bracket would foul against it.

fine work Paul, I don't often ride in night, but yesterday I did, I found the standard light fine :hide

Maybe I am just used to shit car headlights :D

Is that duct tape holding the grille in place a temporary or permanent fixture?

You do realise the cooler gets really hot so the adhesive will soften and the grille will most likely fall off.

Had mine fitted by Les earlier in the year....

.....he really went the extra mile in fitting them for me, and I can't recommend him highly enough.

Supplied, or fitted....top bloke :thumb2

Sgt Bilco - thats the "thinking chair" in my grandads garage :rob

Pukmeister - the Duct tape is just temporary till I make a new cooler guard which is a bit of a better fit! To be honest though, I can't see it coming off easily as it is, given how its fitted on and that there isn't any pulling force on it.

tunnie - try the HID's, well worth it IMO! The only thing I have noticed (which is same on all kits) is it does take 4-5 seconds to fully warm up enough to give out light. Still, it's not an issue to me IMO with the main beam, given the spots and dipped give out enough light as it is!

earthmover/Dainese Brave - I never asked about fitting, I always like getting my hands dirty and learning things with the bike :)

RADZIOL - 4300k's all round, much better temp IMO :)

PaulW21781 what about positional bulb ( this small bulb ) this is oem or somthing new? canbus friendly bulb?

Well had the kit installed a few days now, been Derby and back, extremely impressed with how much more light these throw out! Only gripe I have is I get a few LAMPF warnings when I start the bike at times, and the dipped beam refuses to even try and fire :( Takes a few turns of the key and attempted starts before they fire up again when it does it... Hoping this is somewhat normal, but its a bit frustrating if I'm in a bit of a rush and need to get somewhere!

Not sure if it might be worth getting an uprated battery, as what I've read, the output voltage can vary depending on conditions & whether I do some short or long journeys. Seen these on Nippy's

http://www.nippynormans.com/ODYSSEY...RY-R1200GS_ADVENTURE/productinfo/ODY-PC535GS/

Wondering if it may be worth it in the long run & if I can find it cheaper anywhere else...

Paul,

Make sure you switch the spot lights off, before you turn the ignition off. Get into the habit & you should have no problem with the lampf display.

Regards Allan

Was doing that to begin with anyway, but I did notice when using the kill switch to stop the engine (how I usually stop it most times), the lights stay on a few seconds more than when I switch off with the key (lazyness in all fairness on my part :augie ) seems to reduce the LAMPF problem quite a bit if I do shut off this way!

But I might still treat myself to a nice powerful battery sometime before Christmas & keep the stock one as a backup/spare/door stop of sorts :)
