Hi guys been trying to change the throttle cables on my 1992 R100GS but have been messed around by motorworks, order a set of throttle cables but was first sent a K75 shock absorber??? then finally the cables but there 1-2cm too short

has anyone brought and fitted any to a R100GS with no problems from other suppliers?

I too contacted Motoworks
The guy informed me that for a GS100 there is two different sizes 1 for left 1 for right carb = 1 is shorter than tuther - I just got two of the long uns
( they only a tadge longer than a short un )
I also have bar risers on and they fit
Jobs a good un ( saved a old long un and strapped it to bike as a spare,- makes me look prepared as well )

My local guy supplied me with a set of Venhill nylon lined ones, in sealed bags, and the label on the bag was for the correct cables for the bike - R100 GS 40 mm Carbs.

Only they just didnt fit, and I ended up breaking the lug on one of the the carb tops trying to fit them with the lock nut on the bottom.

So it is probably best to measure up your existing cables, and order them thay way, specifying the overall length and projection that you want.

Is the problem that you cant get any slack with the adjust backed right off?

Then check the twistgrip alignment. There is a mark on the twistgrip and on the cable puller that must be in alignment. You can just about see it in this pic.
How do I know, you ask:augie

i got my latest cables from motobins, venhill featherlight. i tried venhill direct but they have a 2day lead in. motobins hold a good stock and delivered next day all correct size etc.

I have a suspicion that same pn cables can have different lengths. Got some cables from Germany and although they had the right part number, they were almost too long.
