So I've bought myself an 1150 GSA, looking forward to picking it up this weekend. :JB

Have a question though, I already have an optimate III, what lead do I need to buy to connect to the auxilliary socket, do i need to change the wiring in the lead, what is the best place to buy...

Probably the first thing that is going on the bike....in future it will need luggage....gps.......but start with the basics first. Otherwise SWMBO will find out.

Maplins is the place. Make a lead up from a DIN (Also known as Hella) plug I cut the end off the supplied Optimate unit and soldered the DIN directly onto it. Other place to get "BMW" DIN plugs is Vehicle Wiring Products. A main Beemer dealer is always an option.

Dennis - let me check, I might have one in a drawer somewhere that you can have with the bike.
 
OutdoorGB have got a whole range of plugs and sockets, I've ended up getting a few and setting up both my trailies with DIN sockets direct to the batteries to make charging the whole lot easier (one plug fits the lot). I've also added a couple of extra sockets to my 12GSA makes life a little easier...


So doesnt the 1150 have the same charging issues as the 1200 or doesnt it have a CANBUS system? I'm assuming you are intending to charge it through the outlet socket?

By the way - I have a spare plug that you can wire to your optimate, remind me to give it to you at the weekend.

Thanks, I will do. Do you happen to now what the BMW wiring is for the plug - what is positive and what is negative. I think my multimeter is out of battery power.....
