I'll be interested to hear how you get on as I've been using Starling for a few years now and had zero issues. As well as general UK banking I use it to pay for card purchases in France as they give good (interbank) rates and no charge on usage. For those with € accounts abroad they also work out better for large € transfers than say TorFX.

meet me in Saumur on 10 September and I will tell you if you buy me a biere. We'll be in the Best Western on the island in the Loire. Last night of our trip before a ferry home

Cut’n’moved.

It's in the diary 🤞

I'll have my PA coordinate. Please use your local knowledge to identify a bar on the island with Leffe Brune or Cuvée des Trolls on draft. A recommendation for a nice brasserie for dinner would be appreciated, somewhere with a choice of prix fixé menus is our preference. Makes divvying up with the geriatrics a lot easier. Au revoir et bonne chance

Well we've been to Le Piccadilly in the main square (19 place de la Bilange) a few times and had some pretty good food. Not sure about the multiple prix fixe though. For the beer the islands not *that* big so suggest a small bar crawl :ROFLMAO:

that Place looks okay, and they should be able to manage the walk across the bridge. If they don't fancy Le Piccadilly I will introduce them to the French Taco from O'Tacos around the corner. A delicacy I first encountered in Savoie over 20 years ago, where it was invented I believe.

I can recommend Bistrot de la Place in Pl Saint Pierre if you fancy posh nosh at a good price… They had a fabulous ‘menu formule’ last time I was there.

Sorry, forgot about this and we were all a bit tired after what has been quite an arduous fortnight. None of us are getting any younger and I think we need to spend more nights in a base so that the older ones can rest longer after a transfer day.
We just stayed on the island in the Loire, had a couple of pints of Grimbergen in the tabac and a half decent lamb tagine in a Moroccan place near the hotel.
