Hallo,we are Polish. We are going to start our trip in Paris, later Rocamadour,Andora,Segovia,Madrid,Barcelona,Marseile, genua,Venezia,Vien,Krakow.
I have got many questions:Do u think august is good time for trip on west europe?what about traffics and wheather?is there not too hot?
we are going use campings and wild camping, maybe some hosts via couchsurfing,do u think is it good idea?
Could u help me create as good as possible route?we have got two weekes for the trip, probably we will make about 5500km..what need to be seen and what need to be visit?
Thanks.Greg.Bmw r1200Gs.

Great trip!

Weather: August is generally the hottest month in Europe; the Mediterraneam coast / Spain in particular.

Roads to take / places to see / where to stay? Too many over your 5,500 km to list individually.

U could just write about the most important places to see..We have not too much time so mostly view just from the bike.i am talking about places for ex like Rocamadour.

Easy answer, not least as you have at least a month before you depart from Paris:

Download the free ViaMichelin app. Put your daily / weekly routes into it. Tap on the 'Attractions' button which will display all the worthwhile things to see and do.

Easy answer, two: Buy or download copies of one or two (or more) decent guidebooks (Michelin Green, Rough Guide to.... Etc etc) look at them, finding the information in them on things to see and do over your intended 5,500 km journey.

Best tip: Buy some very good maps.... There again, the free maps that come with the free ViaMichelin maps are very good.

Thank u for quick answer Wapping.I will check ViaMichelin immediately. What about campings and wild camping?is it possible?
Maybe better way is start from first days of september?

Camping (on organised campsites) is freely possible throughout Europe. Wild camping varies between 'allowed' and 'illegal'.

Google: Campsites in xxx (insert country).

September is (as a rule) cooler than August, just as it is in Poland.

When i was in France many years ago, there was cheap F1 motels..what prices are now?And do u think is it a good idea take cheap motel?
are any cheap hotel company in Spain,Italy?
Anybody try to find a bed via couchsurfing?

A lot of the camp sites in Spain get very full in August so you should plan ahead a little and have a few lined up.

The only 'cheap' hotel chain that I know of in Spain is Ibis. But these tend to be in industrial or business districts in large cities so not much good for touring.

The weekend of august 15/16th is very busy in both France and Spain and you should book ahead - in fact you should avid travelling at all then! - but big cities like Barcelona are quiet as everyone is on holiday. So as Barna is worth spending at least three days why not plan to stay there at that time?

Unless you have an urge to go avoid Andorra - it is a complete and utter dump, horrendously congested and you are missing the best of the Pyrenean passes just to the west . . .

Hope that helps.

Simon
