West Coast Bands.......anyone remember

The SAHB reminiscenes get me thinking about a few bands that played around Glasgow, Greenock and Ayrshire from early seventies thru' to the early eighties
Some of you jokers were probably in them!

Chou Parrot
Dead Skunk Band
Khyber Trifles
............to name but three
One of the best however (IMHO) was 'Joe Lethal' a wee three piece combo from Ayrshire that used to go down a storm in Greenocks Victorian Carriage. So much so that their gigs became 'word of mouth only' towards the end otherwise there used to be a right carry on getting in if everybody knew they were playing too far in advance.

Any memories or other names to add to the listy :)
 
You are the only person I have ever heard mention Chou Parrot. They were refered to as Munch Budgie at Paisley Tech union in '76.
 
Don't remember any of them, but spent many a weekend in the Burns Howff with "Freebird" (as sound man & roadie). Alex Harvey was in one weekend, think he enjoyed himself.
Played quite a few places in that area, some pub in Greenock, can't remember the name but what a sh*t hole.
Paisley Tech College, so close to being a major punch up in the dressing room, some students seemed to have a problem with being removed, none to gently, from the stage while the band was playing.
 
Anyone remember these bands from Ayrshire? Buster Hymen & The Penetrations, The Flat Stanleys, So What, Nyah Fearties, The Termites, The Love Children, The Bourtree Hillbillies, The Hut. I saw most of them in the Sandrianne in Killie.
 
Chou Parrot.... now there's a name from the past.

I saw them a couple of times when they made the big trek thro to the east to play Edinburgh Uni.

Chap two doors down used to play in the Hillbillies. A pal was roadie/fan for the Penetrations. Flat Stanleys and Nyah Fearties ring a vague bell at the back of my head.

SHORTY.....my mate Rab Ainslie played bass for them, they released a couple of singles, appeared on Glen Michaels Cartoon Cavalcade, those were the days, what aboot SLICK, saw them a few times..

SCHEME.......any one remember them, very popular in the Glasgow area.
 
I was into the Folk scene in early seventies, played in a band called "Folklore".............crackin name eh?
Played a few local spots Glasgow and North Ayrshire, used to be able to play anything.(instrument wise, and song come to think of it)
Few New Years ago, got pissed, someone said "get your guitar"..................oh dear:eek could'nt remember a song all the way through.

Now I could be wrong but.................seriously......did they used to play with a Chanty / pisspot / thunderbox / on the stage with them?

In fact I'm sure they played in the VC in Greenock.
The titles of the songs were brilliant although there's been far too many shandies under the bridge to reel them off.

All clatty verses and vocals but, musically actually quite all right :thumb2

Animal was fantastic on the drums and used to do 10 min solos
