West Midlands Region,"Has it died"?

you should have come over to the west mids steptoe service day on saturday you could of had it done a lot lot cheaper keep am eye out for the next one i do

Shame you missed Steptoe's day last Saturday - had same work on my 1150, plus paralever bearings adjusted, bike checked over, and reassuring knowledge that had been worked on by an expert I could actually talk to about the bike for grand total of £40.

I have nothing against Benhams but only used them once and wouldn't again - they treat bikes like cars, take it off you at the service desk and return it without you seeing the mechanic who works on it and even charge you to clean it. Personally much preferred the service at Clark's when I used to use them.

im a new subscriber and have an r1150gs im in wolverhampton my name is stuart. I just thought i'd mention i,ve been quoted around £220 by benham in wolverhampton for the following :

check and adjust valve clearences
check throttle cable freeplay
synchronise throttle bodies

no fluid change or other work - £220 estimate.

I rang another main dealer who quoted £119 for exactly the same work?
:nenau

Stuart, if you are reasonably competent with a few tools you can do this yourself.

Let me have your email address and I will email you a copy of the workshop manual and a few other docs showing you in pic format how to sychronise throttle bodies.

thank you so much for your kind offer but i have used the workshop manual and adjusted the valve clearences and synchronised the throttle bodies. I replaced the spark plugs as they needed doing and the bike is running lovely. The most tricky part on the synch was when tightening the adjuster lock nut this would slightly knock the synch out out again. Managed it in the end after several attempts. :bounce1

It's at the Meole Brace Park and Ride.

I'll be there as we have a stand - RMT Motorcycle Training - look for the pale blue sprinter van.

We will be promoting the West Mercia Safe Roads Partnership Take Control initiative as we won the contract to deliver the training.

Come along and look me up if you plan to be there. :thumb

With what little that remains of the summer. Anyone interesting in meeting up, evenings or the occasional weekend weather permitting ?

Howdy. If this offer extends to newbie owners of week old GS's then yup, sure, i'm game.

With so many GS' around, i'm surprised the WM region is so quiet. :nenau

Old or new, come one come all.

As far as I know there are lots of GS'rs around the midlands. Whether they are on here or not I don't know

Getting together seems to be a bit of a mission though

Maybe all with commitments of work/family etc

Meet up

Am interested too in meeting up if I'm free.:beerjug:
