What Airhead spares would you carry?

What bits are likely to cause problems and easily replaced on the side of the road?

1. Clutch Cable.
 
On a trip I carry, spare coil, spare rotor. clutch cable and throttle cables

If on a long trip, I'd add a bean can as well :thumb2

to think, i've ridden mine for the last four years without carrying ANY spares at all!

I should have clarified a little better.
All the spares I carry have been untouched [apart from throttle cable ] for last 8 years.
But We do go on "extended" holidays of around 6 to 8 weeks in wobblybox so spares are in wobblybox along with spare filters etc for the aforesaid wobblybox.
we are NOT all like Snoopy :nono:nono relying on GOD, Carole Nash and sheer good luck :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Engine management diagnostic tool
ABS sensor
Picnh bolts for the front telelever
a single wriggle spirment

All of the above in case you come across a fellow 1200 rider - altough you could give them the wriggle to chew while they wait for the breakdown truck I'd suggest you keep it as the gum will fix any hole and the foil any electrical gremlin and is all you'll need for an airhead

Connectors & Insulation tape.
Spare bulbs.

Gaffer Tape.
Bag of assorted fasteners.
Latex gloves.
Couple of rags.

I had to replace a stop lamp bulb once :blast.

The rest is just a mechanical rabbit's foot :D

11/Clutch /brake lever
12/ handle bar lever mounts also with levers
13/ master cylinder
14/old set of brake pads
15/innertubes front and rear
16/punture repair for tubeless tyres + wire if tyre split
17/ nuts bolts washers ass .:eek: assorted you freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeks
18/electric wire terminals
19/fuses
20/ Gaskets and seals
21/ drive sharft

would also take this touring. Oh and don’t forget the dash bulb that stops the bike charging :mmmm
Tools BMW exhaust spanner and clutch linging tool and the alan bolt for the front, Gear box output sharft UJ removal tool :beerjug:
 
FORGOT tyre levers and a 12v compressor off a RANGE ROVER:blast

lilith thanks me for carrying her spares and being aloud to use my tools to fix her wobbly rear end, the bike before you all ask:eek
 
Parts that if they fail will stop you getting back to civilisation:

Clutch cable
Throttle cable
Ignition unit
Punture repair kit and tyre inflator

Also limit you toolkit to tools needed to fit the above plus insulating tape, iron wire, electrical wire and a couple of tyraps

If anything else fails and actually stops the bike moving it must have been knackered anyway.

Fit barkbusters if you're going off road.
 
ADAC card, visa card, EC card, mobile phone. Always a puncture repair kit. What ever spares I've taken I've never used including the puncture repair kit. I've always managed to limp home and I'd like to think that its my OTT maintenance schedule (plus a large slice of luck) that works. Now I've gone and said that my luck will change dammit. I was a bit suspicious though when I found a rolled up electrical wiring diagram in the frame spine tube left by the previous owner. I'm sure if I take it out, the Prince of Darkness will stike. As long as it's not a 1200 that stops to help if (when) mine does go pop, as a man of honour the humiliation will be unbareable. Remember, man plans, God laughs. The only time I've been away and left the pucture repair kit at home incidentaly, Nurg nail scored a direct hit. But that was on my DR 600 in Norway.
By the way I totally disagree with the idea that breaking down is part of the adventure.

Misc nuts bolts & washer
Misc electrical connections/wire/tape
Inner tubes and tubeless repair kit
Fleshed out BMW tool kit - better & more spanners/hex keys
Tyre irons & beadbreaker from Mr Gary H.
Sparrow air pump
2 sets of bulbs
Misc fuses
Duct tape

Used:
Tubeless repair x2
Front calliper from Spiegler - (shipped to China - failed in Romainia:D)
One nut for rear indicator.
2 stop/tail bulbs
Consumables
Duct tape.

So, we should have left all the other shit at home:blast

duct tape and wd40. duct tape if it shouldn't move and wd40 if it should.;) and definatly levers. cant do much without those and cant be fixed with duct tape.
