....2nd day of ownership of my little 05 GS and what a cracking bike.

Having come from a raft of 900cc+ bikes (including 1150GSs and most recently a Tiger 955i - both great in their own way) I've discovered a different level of fun already.

Went of down the gravel and waterlogged countrylanes in and around Bath, Castle Coombe and Chippenham and around the southern Cotswolds this morning (just a familiarisation thing you understand) armed with the TKC 80s the bike came shod in.

Narrow lanes that were very uppy downy and so strewn with gravel and fallen woodwork that, I'd never have thought to take the bigger bikes I've had down 'em. (call me a wimp). It was a case of, yeah, that looks interesting - lets go take a look.:P

I love my mountain biking and this just made chuckle in much the same way. What an absolute hoot.

I paid a bit over the odds for it and probably in reality could have picked up an 11 plate G650 GS for not much more than a grand more, but who cares.

And even back on the tar with the TKCs it still lent itself to be thrown around.

Started to get that whole moving around the bike thing going on just like when you chuck an MTB around.:thumb:thumb2

Even odder, a scooter rider gave me the nod yesterday:clap on my 45 mile detour home from the dealers 10 miles up the road.

Now where can I get me some light greenlaning in?

Sorry even though I post as frequently as you see rocking horse s**t, just had to share that with yous.

Be seeing ya!

I still miss mine, a great bike. I used to get fed up with magazines and MCN always referring to it as a good novice or ladies bike! Mine took two of us camping in the Alps and south of France, no trouble at all, but mostly fun just to dash around on. The handling was really quite good, better than my V-Strom for sure.
