Toxteth scouser, made good ..now hiding on Wirral
Few photees...sorry not many as oily hands:rolleyes:

Very early start, about 10.30 am :augie prodded Vern into action..boy once he gets a head up of steam there is no stopping him !!!

Hedingham forks were a nuns crutch fit..very tight indeed..so much levering and they plopped out :bounce1( twat to plop back in tho':( )

I think Vern took 11.2 seconds to bash the bearings out ( used his teeth as in jinx removal etc..I only went to make the tea and they were out !!!:bounce1 )

Brassmonkey, you crying yet????:augie

All went well...but definately a two man job with the Hedingham forks. So all oils (looked like tar:eek) changed, nice little service and she'll be on the road this week ( I've decided to put tax on her  ) Lots ( and I mean lots ) of work done but well worth it :thumb2
Even had the sidecar wheel wavering in mid air as I put her through her paces...nice:cool:

Some pics

Well, after MANY hours of repairing, servicing, painting, MOT, taxing etc etc., she had her maiden voyage last night with the SHMBO....and disaster !!:( Poor wifey just diagnosed this week with arthritis of the lower spine and pelvis ( other problems to:( )...and she can't ride in the sidecar !!:tears

So, need to paint the rocker covers and as soon as the V5 is back...she'll ( the outfit, not the wife ) will be up on Eblag:tears

Blimey, first her diagnosis, they my poor dog has a stroke and now the outfit has to go !!! Still, hopefully, that is all three bad-lucks out of the way now:)

Sorry to hear about the wifey and the dog.... :(someone will have the benefit of your handywork and enjoy the rig. :thumb

Wait till you try grease and adjust the bearings on a K1.

Started at 7.30 this morning. Got the top bearing off and would you believe it ... all the rollers fell out into the bodywork.
Got them all except one. Decided to assemble it with one short.
Just about to put the bars on and what fell oot of the rag covering the tank.
Yes, the lost roller. I'd looked there already !!
Done it all over again.
Cleaned and lubed all the front brake pistons at the same time . .... Well, not exactly at the same time. I would need 4 hands and two brains to do that.

Just finished 10 mins ago.

Clunk when braking gone.

Need a good disc if anybody's got one. Think its the same as most of the K series of this age.

In the workshop !

Replaced mine today
Kenny did not show how he did the top bearing so this is how i did mine

Surface grinder to remove the bottom one so as not to damage the shaft

Grind to within .25 of a mm then tap with hammer
cracked a treat so it's now finger tight :thumb

The top one is hard to get at to grind so after a bit of thought :augie
I welded a washer onto the inner race and use the press

See them holes in the top of the adjuster? You stick a drift through that,

give it a few taps with a hammer and the bearing pops-off nicely.

So what about the outer races?

I use an extension from an old socket-set, poke it through the headstock tube and tap them out (keep the old race to use when putting the new ones in place; hold it over the new one and tap the old with the hammer).

Did I pass this 'outfit' on the A303 this morning? It was on a trailer behind a car parked between Andover and Basingstoke?

If it was you, i'm sorry i did'nt stop I was still accelerating after leaving Andover, I had got to 65mph:eek: and was just thinking of starting braking for Basingstoke when I saw you;)

Shep

Hey Shep, yes I bought it off kenny and was on my way to Bury St Edmonds to get a Kliktronic gear changer fitted.

Cheers
