Under the right handlebar there's a couple of cables leading from the grip towards the tank area-- a thin cable and a large sheath which seems to have a couple of cables in it.

Does anyone know what these are?

And if some idiot :nenau accidentally crushed these by mounting a RAM mount over them, could this explain why my servo won't stop running?

Tim!

Check first that you haven't also twisted the hangaurd so it is applying the front brake slightly - this could be causing the servo to run.

Unless you've actually damaged the cable outer or sheathing its unlikely you'll have damaged the cables just by crushing them

If you have crushed the brake lever switch wiring, it may have caused a short-circuit. Is your rear brake light permanently on ??

No, the rear light isn't on. And the handguards aren't fouling the lever.

When I was riding with the RAM mount in place it slipped round and I noticed the servo whining. The whine went away when I pushed the mount round again.

The front brake electrical circuit is actually closed when the brake lever is not pulled, and open circuit when you pull the lever. So breaking a wire could well cause the servo to be on all the time. Of course if the circuit is open when the bike is turned on, the self test will not complete and the brake failure warning will show.
