What are the best tyres for an R100 GS PD?

Metzeler Enduro 3 are what I always used and I reckoned that they were great - good confidence, good feedback, made the bike very 'chuckable'

Quick...

Put the lid back on before all the worms escape..

Riding styles and tastes differ so much, that there is no short answer.

What type of roads do you drive and how do you drive them?

Had my gs for 20 years so have tried most tyres I am more than happy with tourances

I would and do prefer Anakee's to Tourances
they where out quicker though
I am told they have a Anakee 2 now which is longer lasting so now they will be the same as tourances, I supose

TWNHYAA - will it

yes I mainly ride A roads and fairly enthusiastically - the tyres I had in mind were for these roads and speeds

I'm pleased with Tourances but a recent tyre test and review from a German magazine reproduced in the BMW Club journal made me think I'll try Continental Trail Attack next time.

PM me your email address and I'll email you a photo of the article. File size is too large to post here. A 1200GS was the test bike involved

You dont have a lot of choice in pure road tires for the 21/90/90 front - I have only seen the Metzler Me 33 in Oz , and it has been around for 30 years.

Most of the Scorpion/ Tourance/ Annekey types are acceptable on bitumen , but here in Oz we have to pay almost the same price for a set we pay for Pilot Powers etc.
And if you push the old girl along the fronts dont last long - 6/7000 km and they are scalloped out and feel horrible

We can get Mitas E08s here in Oz at a sensible price, less than half the others, and I prefer them to the others anyway , so the price is just a bonus.
Plenty of grip , wet or dry, and they have a nice rounded profile on the front whIch gives a turn in that suits my style of riding. Back holds its shape well too, as it wears.

The low price lets me change the fronts as soon as they start to go off- I spend too much on my bikes in a year to try and squeeze another $ 20 - of wear out of a worn tire .

The new Conti Attacks look like they have more rubber and less grooves than any of the above , so lets hope that a new tire with current technology and more rubber on on the road ends up a better road tire - it would be sad if it didnt.

Sorry Gee-yes, I didn't check for a reply
I'll reduce the file size and see if they're still legible. Alternativey, post your email address here - suitably camoflaged of course - and I'll email them.
