I’ve had Metzler Tourance tyres on the gs as long as I’ve had it, and they have been brilliant until this set, I don’t seem to be getting the grip and reassurance I had before. What does everyone recommend these days?
Conti TA2's or 3's
I never go off road so fitted Continental Road Attacks
excellent grip, although after 4500 the back is fairly done
if you never leave tarmac I am led to believe the Michelin Road 5 tyres are very good, I will try a set next
Great tyre but wear fast , very fast.
the Continentals or Michelins or both ?
I only do 2500 a year so wear isnt a factor, I like to stay between the hedges more
Had PR5's before recently swapping to Conti TA2's and bike is far better now
Took the PR5's off before my Spanish trip 2 weeks ago and they were half worn
Chucked the PR5's they were crap on an Adv bike where gravel car parks and grass verges come into play
Why have road tyres on a big Adv bike ?
Can’t comment on that as I have the GS and don’t go near gravel tracks , got an enduro for that malarkey PR5 are great if you feel like pushing a bit as the tyre leans towards sport rather than commute , just sayingHad PR5's before recently swapping to Conti TA2's and bike is far better now

Why have something like the TA2 when you never ride off road?
I’ll be fitting TA2s to mine when it comes to renewal time because they’re ok for grass fields and our gravel drive so that’s enough for me with the small added bonus that if needs be I can ride it on a basic unmade road when I’m over in Europe.
