What are the downsides of a Zumo 500

I had my Zumo 550 stolen.

I still have the bikemount/carmount/leads etc

I also have the City Navigator NT/Mapsource/Europe V9 DVD & the Yellow sheet with the 25 character unlock code.

If I bought the CHEAPER Zumo 500 I could put the maps onto an SD card and it would operate just like my 550.

Or would it? - what are the drawbacks?

Not sure if v10 comes in the box just yet, for the 500/550, so might be better off waiting a couple of weeks and getting the v10 mapping.

Also Garmin have become iffy about sharing mapping across two units, and also giving out additional unlock codes for v9. Also the yellow 25 digit code is (I believe) locked/associated to the specific 550 unit you used to have.

So seeing as you still have the complete car kit/ accesories, wait a few weeks and buy the 500 with the latest mapping included.

I wasn't aware I would lose Text-To-Speech - I'd got quite used to the 'Turn left into High Street' rather than just turn left.

I'll await the V10 release and then buy another. The extra car kit may come in handy.
