What Autocom bits do I need??

Just bought myself a new Zumo 660 GPS but I have no way of listening to the instructions or using my mobile phone that will be connected via bluetooth to the unit.

I've been recommended to use Autocom but being a complete n00b I've no idea where to start or what I need and was hoping someone could point me in the right direction?

Basically I just want to be able to hear instructions and talk on my phone. I would prefer it if the Autocom spoke to the GPS via bluetooth so I don't have to run wires from the GPS to under the seat. It would be nice if I could connect my iPod for longer distances but this isn't a great concern.

I don't have a need for pillion or bike-to-bike comms, only for myself.

Presumably the Autocom system can be transferred to another bike when I eventually change it and also be transferred to another helmet when I replace that too?

Can anyone recommend me a solution and tell me what parts I need to buy?

I've got a pretty old Autocom, and yes you can transfer them bike to bike (mine's on it's third bike now).

I'm not up to date with the latest offerings but pretty much all of them will do what you want. I also run a 660, but have it wired to the Autocom, so not sure if all the new Autocoms have BT built in, or you'll need an adapter.

I have music on the Autocom (8gb micro SD card) rather than having a separate i-pod / mp3 player and it works well with the Autocom - the 660 cuts the music when speaking directions. I then BT my phone to the 660 and all is well. Mine needed a lead to connect the 660 to the Auto come for the microphone, but in the car (obviously) the BT handles it all.

There are plenty of Autocom systems for sale in the for sale section of this site lately. Maybe its because Autocom have gone to the wall. Even so, Chainspeed still have all the parts you need.

Buy the likes of a super pro Avi, also known as the 300 along with the bluetooth dongle.
You will need to hard wire your sat nav in into the autocom in order to give yourself stereo sound, as far as I can remember. If you do that you will have no need for your Ipod as you can put all your music on an SD card and play it through your zumo.

Have a look at the for sale section and give Sam a call at Chainspeed (always very helpful) about the part numbers you need.

Are you sure Autocom have gone to the wall? They sounded quite healthy to me when I ordered a headset from them at the weekend!

Same here. I ended up ordering a Zumo kit from Starcom that enables me to use their headset directly with the Zumo GPS.

I'll be able to hear directions and make / receive phone calls too and it only cost £40. Sounded like a bargain to me and they couldn't help me enough.

It's kinda hijacking my own thread but in the end decided not to go with Autocom simply because I'm not comfortable with their financial position of late.
