What bike gear to wear?

HG cruise GTX or master GTX ranges are top notch and are fairly priced for long term quality gear:thumb

Good luck.

Finding the Holy Grail might be easier (and you'll get fewer conflicting opinions about finding it too). ;)

:D

HG Cruise takes a lot of beating, I'd but another kit tomorrow if I needed to!

People always seem surprised at the seeming unsuitability of a twat jacket for the uk roads. It's an off-road jacket/suit and if you've ever ridden off-road the last thing you want is something warm:rolleyes: Yeah it's ok in summer or hot conditions but the abrasion resistance of the material is shit on tarmac, trust me:D I love mine for trail riding and enduro use but during the winter it's my trusty savannah and a buffalo mountain shirt. Halvarssons kit is what my savannah will be replaced with:)

Ive had both and both have their good and bad points.
My HG Cruise was warm in the winter, could wear a t shirt under it down to freezing, completely waterproof and plenty of waterproof pockets. Downside was it was very warm in warm weather even with the vents open.
My BMW R2 suit is not quite as warm in winter, but a fleece soon warms you up, completely waterproof, looks the business and is the best jacket i have ever had for the summer, just take the liner out and open the vents and you will be the coolest person on the road !
If i had to pick one jacket i would have the BMW R2. :thumb2

Bought a Rev'It Cayenne pro a couple of months back. Not the cheapest of options but so far quite pleased with it :thumb

Whilst not having the Rallye jacket I've used the Savanna which is very similar in concept, ie goretex removable liner. Great when the sun is shining as you take the liners out, gtes a bit colder / wet put the liners in, bit colder, put on a fleece, colder still, use a heated jacket.

There is a but and it's, when it's raining and the goretex liner is next to the skin it can feel cold and wet even if it isn't. In which case a long sleeve t-shirt and leggings will reduce that problem.

As has been said earlier, no one suit can really cover all four seasons well, as it's a compromise.

Hi Ollie

also just got the RevIt Cayenne Pro jacket and trews and top kit it is!!

Waterproof pockets on the outside. Genius.

Vents for summer that work. Excellent.

All the girls look at you as you ride by. If only.:o

Rev'It Cayenne is a complete twatsuite copycat IMHO, but fabric and seams are clearly inferior quality when I inspected it closer and decided to go for the original R2 after that.

As said before there is no perfect clothing. Those that are warm in the winter are shete in the summer or vice versa.

BMW Rallye 2 (aka the 'twat suite' in this forum) is probably the best compromise suite. It'll work comfortably from +15C (GoreTEX in, vents closed) to +45C (all vents open).

To make it ideal:

I combine my R2 with cheapo rainsuite in a dense rain, with small rain I don't bother, GoreTEX will work OK. And also I use Gerbing heated jacket for cold weather or long distance riding. Together all this stuff works like magic, no need to buy 2 separate £££ suites summer+winter, and winter suite won't do any better than a heated vest.

Just my 2c.

Ride safe, Margus :beerjug:

try looking at the extensive range of stuff on here

Well nobody expects you to be right all of the time Magnus!

LOL :)

Its got to be the twat suit for me before I bought it read all the opinions on here and then made my own mind up after trying suits on.
Done the offroad weekend in wales in july came off 7 times on the 2nd day couple of big hill slides lots of mud and shit stayed dry and clean suit washed up like new no marks on the suit but punctured the cylinder head of the 1200.
Had the liner unzipped from the main jacket when we were'nt riding just unzipped the outer and dumped it on the ground while it was raining just to cool down but stay dry.
Like others have said come winter thermal vest and fleece.
If the suit ever wears out I'll buy another.

Thanks for all the advice guys, went for the Rallye Pro suit in the end. Execellent fit and I love it:bounce1
Got a discount deal also, so happy days.
(Didn't go for the blue in the end, talked myself into the black:rob)
