what bike !

2000 model 22,000miles £5999
I bought a 2001 new, paid £8k, so the above has lost £2k over 4 years!! I know the dealer would only give you £4.5k and bang it out for £6k but these were the reasons why i stopped looking at second hand and bought new. At the time i was looking at 3 or 4 yr old bikes that were less than £2k cheaper than a new one. It didn't make sense when i could just afford to buy a new 'un.
I reckon if you go down anything other than the GS route, in weeks/months/years to come, you'll be selling at a big loss in order to buy what you know is the sense choice now.
Do the test ride stuff, buy the GS and enjoy. You will not regret it
( I sold my ADV in April and was to give up biking, less than 6 months and i was pining, now got a lovely 1100RS to be traded in the spring for a GS.)

and was to give up biking

What`s that all about then Dave? You can`t just GIVE UP biking!! It doesn`t work like that does it?

Giving up the fags is easier than bikes!:)

I love..

the clunky gearbox on my 1150. I would not want to swap it for anything else. I love it, love it, love it. That's my unbaised view :D

Hello Ming.

Im afraid the gearbox problem is there and even if its a case I have been spolit riding Japanese bikes, I do not see how BMW can justify what amounts to a poor piece of engineering in denial.

What is supposed to be wrong with the gearbox, exactly? Mine's fine, anything less than imperceptible changes are due to laziness on my behalf.

In the last 7 years I've owned a Dominator, Firestorm, DR250, KTM 640, Blackbird and now the GS. I can say, hand on heart, that the GS' box is as good as any of them, way better than the 'Bird. The KTM may have been a smidge slicker, but loses points for telling fibs about when it was in neutral (or not..). Is mine broken? :)

what bike

hi all, like half , i am toying with buying a GS, got a test ride booked for next monday on a 1200.
the important thing for me is comfort, i need the low seat, being just a bit taller than a midget, the big thing is i have just had a hip replacement and can no longer fold myself into a sportsbike, so the upright position feels good.
whats it like for all day riding?

cheers guys
