Was quoted about £230 by dealer at recent service for a set of pads . Obviously said no thanks - fitting was only £23 of that
On eBay brembos is are about £30 a set, ebc more like £17
Any reason to go for brembos? My original rears lasted about 9000, replacement ebc down to 1 1/2 mm at 4000 but I have been commuting into London more on these

I used the brembo sintered in my last GSA Lc and they were v good

230 fitted is a serious piss take

At least you were given the option by the dealer.

When I got my GSA serviced at a well known London based Motorrad dealer they handed me the bill (which was £90 more than I'd been quoted with no extra work done) and told me 'by the way your rear brake pads are down to 5% sorry but we didn't have time to call you and we don't have enough staff to change them for you today'

So I bought a set from steptoe on the way home for about £16 and changed myself in about 10 minutes.

Buy Brembo pads from Motorworks - at least you can be reasonably confident they'll be genuine. Other re-sellers are available.

On balance, while EBC HH pads work well, I never had great life out of them in my Tiger 1050 and they always felt slightly, well, graunchy.

11k on the original rear pads. I fitted some EBC pads purchased off ebay for the first MOT last week. £17 and 20 minutes to fit. I'll be keeping an eye on them over the next few months but can't see there being any issues and if there are, I'll whip them out and put something else in.

Can anyone advise brembo rear pad thickness at new? so I can judge how much has been used to estimate when they will be shot?

TIA

By coincidence, I have just been and got a new pair of rear Brembo Carbon Ceramic pads from Motorworks today for my 13 GS TE because I thought the existing ones looked a bit thin. The new ones are not actually that much thicker and without taking them out to measure, I would estimate that completely unused they look about 3mm actual material thickness, maybe 3.5.

I did notice that the piston side pad of my old pair was more worn than the opposite pad.

Just had a 12k service done on my GS, dealer found that the rear calliper was stick slightly, stripped and lubed the mounting pins. All hunky dory now.
