similar story here, very wary of HG now.

salesmen there will say whatever you want to hear to make a sale.
 
I've just bought some Rukka kit and Daytona boots from these guys.

Have a look for yoko gear.As good as rukka and much cheaper.Made in finland an all!
 
I have got HG Cruise gear and find it very comfortable, warm and completely waterproof:thumb. BMW Rallye 2 for summer only because it`s nowhere near warm enough for these old bones!

Just got back from the US and picked up an Olmypia Phantom one piece suit for $449 (£225). It`s a revelation!! Warm, dry and so feckin useful because you can wear your normal clothes underneath! Just as good as Aerostitch and more than half the price:thumb

I checked out their 2 piece gear and I have to say it looks great quaility and the price is very, very good even if you have to pay import duty.
 
Richa - Millennium Jacket

Richa - Millennium Jacket. I purchased one earlier this year for €300. Its warm, has a removable inner lining and 100% waterproof. You can get a winter pants to match which zips to back of jacket , which I purchased as well €200. Rode 1000km over two days in torrential rain in Europe this year and I was completely dry and warm. Might be worth a look.

I've got a Yoko jacket. Absolutely fabulous, and after years of crap (assorted friend/dealer/ride Recommended) I would be reluctant to bother with anything else. And yes, I do have a Roadcrafter, but it isn't my choice of winter kit, unless I need to arrive somewhere in a suit and tie.

I would love another, (I have lost some weight), but cannot find anyone with any stock (not since Yamaha gave up the importers franchise).

So Weirpig, do you know of somewhere?
 
No mate.Got mine off ebay.Jacket slightly used £35.New trousers £25!
Warmer than my Rukka gear and totally waterproof.Only downside is slightly bulky armour,but at this price.............
 
Blimey. I am almost tempted to actually go and look at ebay again.
(I gave up after I spent 6 months bidding on Metz flashguns that never went for less than £300+ (plus p&P) before getting one (boxed, mint) from a shop, with a warranty at £250 inc p&p, with extras).
 
which kit?

try loking at the rev-it "off-track" range of textile kit. It looks similar to the beemer kit but is half the price and equally good. mind you though, it doesnt have the snob value of some of the designer names - but it will keep you dry
 
I have a Uvex jacket which seems pretty good.

3 years/60,000 miles - no leaks, tears or faults.

Was reduced from £250 to £160 in a JBS sale.

Always worth having a look round to see whats on offer, last time I went to SBW's their Rally stuff was £100 off, so people were paying more for 2nd hand stuff on E bay than new

Do I understand correctly that there's an outer shell, then a separate waterproof lining, then a separate thermal lining?

If so, isn't that sh1te? I've never seen that before.

I'd prefer the outer shell to be the waterproof shell.

can't speak for that particular item, but most cheaper gore tex gear is made that way.

it is a somewhat shite way of doing things IMO.
 
Yeah, BMW gear is made that way and some of the Rukka.

It's done that way so come summer, when you don't need to have a goretex layer in, you take it out and get a little extra breeze. Trouble is you have to take it with you in case it rains.

i was thinking of the gore tex Z lining. like i say, i know nuffink about rev it stuff.

the bmw gear you cite is ok in it's own way (i own 2 jackets like that), but i don't put either on if i'm expecting rain.

My mate has a set of these which were retailing at £250 earlier on in the year at Charles Hurst, Boucher Road, Belfast. He eventually got £50 knocked off them and paid £200 and hasn't looked back since...loves them!
Been caught out in all sorts of weather and bone dry all the way.

This deal will be hard to beat......at this price!

Get yourself a Rallye2 - you'll def stand out from the crowd at all those rally events with one :augie

The pictures of this suit definately don't do it justice, look much better on the rider (my mate is a fussy git too)
This little fella don't need no Rallye2 jacket to stand out at the rallies LOL, a couple of pints of the black stuff does it for me.
Anyway, not overlly into the expensive look good factor....if your bone dry after several hundred miles of heavenly pish then that's a good enough result for me bro. :beerjug:

yeah right, belstaff stepped in, needed to make a big comeback into bikes and said we'll sponsor you, stop wearing the twat suits from long way round, and we can then sell jackets at £599.......yes thats how much they are.....available from march
