I was hoping you would let us know what setting it was at for future reference. It seems to be the biggest bone of contention with twin Plugged bikes. I could never seem to get my 80 Paralever running correctly and ended up with it set at the standard timing marks.
That's handy isn't it !!!! Hope you kicked him in the gonads as those heads shoud've been on the PD !! Having said that....I'd love some back ground info on the bike...must have an interesting engineering past and 'personal' history etc I've deduced it is a r80g/s lower and an R100 upper.....hopefully I'll start playing with it Tuesday and see what is what as I get stuck in !!
I went through all of that when I had my 80 twin plugged. I spent ages messing with the timing only to find it ran best with the standard setting
After talking to a few people the there seems to be a significant benefit to twin plugging heavy flywheel bikes but nobody can seem to decide if theres any real benefit to the 81 on machines being done.
I've just got a 78 RS 100 with the big valve heads I'm tempted to try again and use a Boyer twin plug ignition... Yet another project
Seems to be a lot for not changing too much, as then you can have some reference point to work from / back to. Still any difficulties help keep the grey matter exercised.
Almost there..you wouldn't believe how much 'servicing' has gone into this lovely bike, even goes the same way as the front wheel now !! TKC's on order, as well as a few more s/s goodies and then she is finished.
Wiring is an absolute nightmare though.......I'll wait until Tarka is made redundant and then pay him the minimal wage to sort it ;-)
